Q: RRIF - I have to convert my RRSP to a RIF by the end of the year. My broker is TDW. TD Canada Trust, their agent, wants me to make the minimum withdrawal on a regular schedule ie monthly, quarterly etc.
I want to make the withdrawals on an as required basis, subject to the annual minimum, to help with my overall cash flow demands.
Is there a legal requirement to do it TD's way?
Thanks

Q: I see there have been changes to the S&P/TSX Composite Shareholder Yield Index and that Enercare has been removed and (AD) Alaris Royalty has been added.
I am surprised to see Enercare removed and can you explain how this decision is arrived and also if this will have any impact on the share price of each Enercare and Alaris.
Thanks
John

Q: I read an article in the Globe and Mail by someone named Bryden Teich in which he predicted that the lack of liquidity in the corporate bond market would cause bond ETFs to tank at dizzying rates in a market panic. Is there anything to this, and if so, how would it impact popular bond ETFs such as CBO, XSB, and XBB, and what would be the long term effect?
Q: What investments would yield income with some safety(conservative)?
Was thinking of ZWH or XTR?

Q: I have a question about 932
Hello 5i:
in response to a question on MG/LNR, in, I believe August, you said "MG has a solid balance sheet and a very cheap valuation. Recent earnings were solid and we would consider the sector fairly attractive right now overall." From everything I can read, it appears that LNR has a substantially lower valuation than MG. Am I missing something?
Can you elaborate on LNR, and discuss why you think MG has a lower valuation.
thanks
Paul L

Q: What a difference a month makes! Last questions on PPY were about the fall off in price. It has jumped 20% since. I saw Pembina got a mighty upgrade today. What's going on with these Monteny plays? All about LNG?
Q: PPY has gained 250% since the beginning of 2016, and 14% in the last 5 days, the stock is presently trading at $9.38. What has been the catalyst for the gain, and what would be your recommendation, buy , sell , hold, or trim.
Thanks for your insight.

Q: Hello; You have spoken favorably about SIA in previous commentary; My concern is about valuation and its vulnerability in an increasing rate environment. Can you comment about SIA's stock price relative to operational cash flow. I suspect it is in the 15 to 20 range which seems very high. Thanks for your great service.
Q: There is a coffee ETN trading in the US under the symbol JO.
Q: I am a little confused by your answer to Richard's question yesterday about HCG. On the one hand, you still consider HCG a good long term investment, while on the other hand, you said that you took it out of the Balanced Portfolio on short term prospects. I had thought that your advice was based on long term investing, not short term trading. I would appreciate your clarification.
Thanks,

Q: I keep reading and hearing that coffee prices are set to rise substantially... What stocks, both Canadian and US, are available to play the coffee commodity

Q: Hello Peter,
Could you please comment on the recent price action in Questerre Energy. I remember it being a market darling back in the day while you're at Sprott.
Thank you, Dwight

Q: The best investment I made this year was joining your service.
I was just chasing stocks.
What sector should I be looking at first.
Could you recommend any to get started.
Thanks.

Q: Hello, I am reading there may be increased money flow back into agriculture, besides these two etfs, do you recommend any Canadian etfs/stocks that may provide similar exposure. Would it be better to stick with these with the added benefit of a possibly strengthening US dollar?
Q: Have held this for 18 months ,been very patient as a lot of BNN analysts have liked it with the promise of "unlocking value" when the company splitting into 2 ,but they only thing that has happened really is the stocks "dropping in value" any reason why and your thoughts for the next year on these 2 companies..thanks.
Q: Hi there,
I had two questions. The first one would is on Sleep Country - I noticed that has come off it's highs of around $33ish. Do you think today's price would be a good entry point or will it continue a down trend with profit taking etc?
My second question is on the Balanced Equity portfolio. I have been following your updates and stock selections and started out with a 5% weighting or so in each name. What is the best way to deploy any new funds if I wanted to follow the balanced model? A real world example of this would be if I contribute money into my TSFA next year, what would be the best way to deploy this new cash into the BE Portfolio? Should I divide up the contribution amongst several names? Hold it in cash and wait until you have added a new name to the portfolio and then deploy it? Is there a recommended approach to this?
Thanks!
