Q: Hello, this is in regard of the Income Portfolio. Are you going to keep Absolute Software (ABT) in the portfolio? The stock seems to perform poorly, do you see a brighter future for ABT? Knowing that AGU is now Nutrien (NTR), are you going to keep NTR in the portfolio? Do you know the dividend yield of NTR? Regards, Gervais

Q: Reviewing my portfolio for year end and find myself low in industrials. I currently hold the above stocks and would like your opinion on whether I should increase any or all of the above (currently all equal weighting) or add to this list?
Q: Hi Peter and Staff
Questions on the merger
- I had a date of later in January 2018 to make an election on what shares to take? Does the now announced target date of January 1,2018 change that?
- is there a default treatment that is consistent amongst institutions?
- aside from the tax deferral element is there a recommendation? Ie will both be traded in Toronto and get the Canadian dividend tax credit ?
Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: Hello 5ir,
I own AGU which will be merging wit POT. The effective day of the merger does seem to have been established. I have sold the April 20, 2018 call option as a covered write. What happens to the option if the effective date of the merger is before the option expiration date of April 20, 2018?
My broker did not know and neither did their option desk?
Cheers, HD

Q: Can you please explain to me in regards to the conversion from Agrium to the new company Nutrien. My broker has told me there are two options 1)tax deferred option and a 2)non-tax deferred action can you explain this to them in please.
Q: Hello, I have read your answer to a member asking about AGU today. I hold Agrium and I have just contacted my online broker. He told me that I have 2 choices:
1) the default action is "disposition" (if I do nothing)
2) the "rollover".
He was not in a position to tell me which one of these 2 choices is best for me (non registered account). What would you do? What is the difference between "disposition" and "rollover" ? Is there any tax implications for the investors? Best regards, Gervais

Q: If I hold Agrium shares, do I need to do something with my current shares with my broker if I accept and want the conversion to the new merged company?
Q: Good Afternoon,
Can I assume you will roll over your shares of AGU held in the Income portfolio into the new parent company Nutrien?
Thanks

Q: Do you think it's reasonable to expect a dividend increase post merger and regular dividend increases going forward. Thanks
Q: What are your thoughts are the latest earning? With the debt should one continue to hold this stock. Would AGU be a better stock to own? I know that the yield is lower on AGU than AFN?
Thanks

Q: Please comment on the latest quarter. Buy, sell or hold? Can you suggest a same sector replacement with stronger momentum but pays a dividend? Thanks
Q: I want to add to the Income Portfolio and I am wondering what the best addition would be. Over the past 3months SPB WSP and AGU have been the stronger performers while KWH has under performed. Am I better to add to the weaker one and maintain the percentage share of the portfolio or go with strength. If you were adding to the portfolio today which would you choose?
Thanks
Mike

Q: My wife and I are retired and are income investors. We are considering reducing our 35% bank exposure. These investments have done very well over the years and we do not want to reduce the quality of our portfolio, but think that perhaps a little more diversification would be desirable.
We are looking for one or two non-large-cap Canadian companies with a growing dividend/distribution preferably greater than 3.5% for a very long-term if not forever hold. We want to avoid more financials, utilities, and retail, office, industrial, and apartment REITs.
Some possible purchases we have identified are: KPT, ITP, CSH, ZCL, AGU, BIP, HLF, BEP, UFS, BPF, AND NWC.
What do you think of reducing our exposure to banks and buying some non-large-cap companies?
What do you think of our list of possibilities? Do you have any other suggestions? If you have two or three good candidate suggestions that would be great.
As always, thanks!

Q: Hi5i,
I am thinking of taking a position in Potash or Agrium, which would you prefer at this time or would it be better to wait till after the merger is complete.
Thanks Dave

Q: Hi 5i,
Is there a confirmed date of the merger and when the new shares will be trading? Will getting the new shares result in a taxable event?
Thanks!

Q: The July 15th edition of the Financial Post carries an article with the headline "Worst drought in decades devastates Europe's Crops" with the article focusing on a wheat-farmer in the Tuscany region (province?) of Italy. After doing a quick check online it seems that drought is somewhat dispersed throughout regions in Europe.
Would this European drought be significant enough to impact global grain supply and prices?
Would this be time to consider purchasing POT?
Thanks!
