Q: Hello, AEM stock has decreased by about 36% from a year ago, and the gold bullion CGL has decreased by about 8% from a year ago. I know we can’t perfectly correlate these two, but how can you explain such great difference? Thank you,

Q: Good morning 5i team,
Thanks for the amazing platform and service.
Would you invest in gold stocks in the current market and world environment?
My position in precious metals and materials is lacking. This is something I normally purchase cyclically and sell when necessary.
If so. What would your top rec's be?
Thanks a ton!

Q: AEM stock has been under perform with Gold sector. Would this be the best pick in the sector? I purchased AEM in early September and use it as protection for the potential downside in other sectors but Gold sector is going down as well. Is this still the best strategy?
Thanks,

Q: Hi 5iresearch team
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being certainly, how likely do you think a stagflation scenario will happen in the US economy?
Second question, what types of investment will likely win in stagflation (gold, certain stocks, bonds, real estate, cash … etc)?
Third question: can you recommend 3 Cdn and 3 US stocks that you think will do well in stagflation? Can you please rank them if possible?
Thank you for your great service, I really enjoy reading your answers everyday in the Q&A section.

Q: looking at my precious metals holdings over the years they have either lost money or done nothing with the exception of LUX. Is it time to switch this allocation to bitcoin/ethereum and give up on gold?
Q: To increase gold exposure, I am looking at AEM or BTO.
BTO has a better P/E and dividend, but is much smaller.
Which would you recommend gor 3-5 year hold, and why?

Q: I submitted a previous question about my sister converting her portfolio from a robo manager to self-directed. The last question dealt with the equities side (75%) while this one deals with the fixed income side (25%).
My suggestions to her all come from what I've gleaned from your website, so I'm really asking for confirmation and criticism here.
She wants 10% in gold so I've recommended 5% of Sprott's PHYS.TO and 5% of AEM.TO. We realize these are not fixed income but plan to use them as a long term hold (insurance) and not speculatively. For other 15%, I have suggested VAB.TO and XSB.TO.
Some of her funds are in USD so she could buy US or Global bonds if that would add safety. It seems that would complicate things unnecessarily, a main objective being to keep it simple.

Q: I am interested in investing in gold. Please advise if this is a good time to put money into this and if so, which company do you think has the most potential. As well please advise which companies to stay away from at this time.
Thank you for your great service

Q: Precious metals having a good day today, assuming its mainly because of the hot inflation numbers coming out. Do you see these stocks having more room to run? I own the above. Can you rank the above stocks in terms of the inflationary environment and which have the best growth and potential. Which sectors would do the best? Also I'm low in energy, would that sector do well if inflation persists or is it mainly driven by energy prices? Do you still see inflation as transitory or more persistent? Thanks!
Q: Hi

Q: Hi,
I was sitting on a nice gain with DNG and because I am concerned about increasing political risk in Peru I decided to take the profit and sell. I would still like something in my portfolio that gives me exposure to gold. Preferably on the conservative side and with a dividend. What would your suggestions be?
Thanks

Q: Dear 5i,
Here are the stocks I have left to purchase from your Balanced portfolio, can you please place these in order or how attractive they are at this time for a long-term hold? Also, is QQQ a good starting point for US focus holding in a registered account? Thank you.

Q: AEM just bought on 23rd and no sooner bought than it started to drop off. I researched a bit further and seen a couple of days ago, there was a target cut by Bay Street HTTP. Not concerned but should have researched before I bought. Over the last few days I added to STC and ROQU and took a new position in CRNC. They do not seem to be participating in this 5 day rally. Any recent negative news on any of these securities? Awaiting your good advice. Thanks,

Q: Hi 5i Team
I'm considering inserting a materials sector in portfolio as I am suspecting they are undervalued. Looking at 5 stocks for 1.5% each. 1 each for Gold, Silver, Copper, Steel and Agriculture. Would the 5 names submitted be the best in your opinion or would you change any. Looking for reasonable safety and growth.
Thanks. Gilles

Q: Hi,
I am thinking of starting a small position in a gold company. Between ROXG and AEM which would you think has greater potential IF gold increases significantly?
AEM is obviously much larger, but the P/E, P/B and estimated revenue growth seem to be comparable, and ROXG seems to have a much lower P/S ratio (1.9 vs 4.4).
thanks,
Brad

Q: Dear 5i,
Contemplating bringing down 10.54% AEM Weight in my TFSA to match 5i Balanced portfolio.
Option 1 - by 6.91% to match 3.63% AEM Position Weight.
Option 2 – by 2.24% to match 8.3% Material Sector Weight as I don’t own in Materials 4.67% of CCL.B.
My AEM Unrealized % Loss is 8.6%.
What would you suggest:
Question #1 – Bringing down AEM Weight now or wait for the bounce.
Question #2 – Bringing AEM down to match Position or Sector Weight.
Question # 3 – Buying CCL.B in the Materials sector now or wait for better times.
Much Thanks
