Q: RBC has down graded ABX mostly because of concerns with the Acacia mine in Tanzania. I would like to increase my investment in ABX, as I think the market may be turning to the gold sector for safety in these turbulent times. How concerned should I be about the RBC report? Do you agree? In past comments you have favoured/suggested alternative gold companies, do you have a preference today? ABX is my only gold holding...………..Thankyou, Lionel

Q: Happy Thanksgiving to All! I am doing a little portfolio clean up. These are the names I am considering selling: Atco (ACO), Barrick (ABX), Census (CVE), Stantec (STN). Are any still worth holding? Why? Can you offer replacement ideas within the same sector? I am about a decade from retirement and prefer stocks with a (growing) dividend, and also have potential for price appreciation. I have a buy and hold investment style.
Q: i did like the article on John Thornton and his somewhat "out of the box" go forward strategy but is it worth holding on to it now that it has likely bottomed out. if it is, what is your view about how long it will take to turn around the stock price.

Q: I am planning to sell ABX to take a tax loss. However, I like to stay invest in the gold/gold miner sector. I can get my wife to buy back ABX or any of the above companies. I would like your opinion on your preferred investment vehicle in gold/gold miner at this time > any of the above 5 companies? or do you have any other favorite company in this sector ? BTW, can you let me know if I buy ABX in the NYSE, will its dividend qualified for Canadian dividend tax credit ? Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter and Associates!
I recently received a notice from my discount Broker about a class action potential claim for anyone holding shares in Barrick Gold. The class action originates out of the US. Do you have any suggestions for how to handle this piece of information as I have no broker to receive advice from?

Q: I sold my Barrick yesterday after owning it for almost 20 years. Not because I thought the price would drop, but because I just couldn't stand the pain (and mismanagement) any longer! I'd like to replace it with another gold stock (just for diversification). I know you like Goldcorp but I find AEM interesting and like the idea of it seemingly having much lower geo risk than G given the locations of its mines. Does your preference for G already factor in such risks? Or do you think the risks are overblown? Your comments appreciated!
