Q: Howdy! The Kiki Delaney chapter in "Market Masters" has inspired me to invest more in Quebec-based equities. I already have BCE, CAE, CNR & GUD. Please rank the top 3 in this list (or other Quebec-based equities that I didn't list) to add right now purely on long-term (3-5 yrs) appreciation (value + dividends).
Thank you,
David L

Q: RONA preferred shares didn't get the vote they needed for conversion and now today I got another offer for cash in either Cdn or US$ but need to let the broker know by April 8, 2016. Do you think Lowe will offer more than $20.00 and should reject this offer or accept it?

Q: I have about 10% of my RRSP portfolio currently in cash earning 0.75%. I plan to invest it in a fixed income vehicle sometime in 2016. I noticed today that Rona is trading at $23.40 about 3% less than the takeover price. Would investing some of this money in Rona at its current price be a smart alternative to a fixed income vehicle?

Q: Hello.
Thanks for great answers....
With regard to Rona Take-over today, I have cut the Rights section from the Preffered.A Prospectus and added here.
Not often in this position, should a holder of ron.pr.a expect to see $25.00 as indicated in the prospectus? Certainly that is what I expect in reviewing the prospectus.
Thanks
Dave

Q: Hi Peter & team. I would like your views on RON.PR.A. I realize that the company has been struggling for the past few years, which may explain the price of these preferred shares. I like the fact that it is a reset type. Do you think it represents good value? Do you think it is too risky in a well diversified portfolio, where the weighting would be less than 2% overall? My other preferred holdings are HPR, EQB.PR.A and CF.PR.A. Thanks again.

Q: RON.PR.A got a bump today presumably because of Benj Gallander's recommendation last evening. It has a nice dividend but starts to float in March, 2016. Do you know the formula for setting the rate at that time and would you recommend this particular preferred share?

Q: Rona (Symbol RON on TSE) is undergoing some major changes to its board. Some major shareholders have forced this upon them. The company`s stock (and financials) have underperformed in large proportions compared to its competition like Home Depot over the past few years. The new person in charge is Robert Chevrier. Would you know anything about this individuals mgmt style, his ability to deliver? Any thoughts about the company over the mid to long term with new management? Thanks again.
