Q: This is a follow-up question where you suggested, "we would see no need to crystalize a gain on RY JUST to offset a loss. There may be other gains in the future, or one can offset a gain in prior years". I had a significant capital gain in 2021, If I don't sell RY to crystalize a gain in 2022, do you think that offsetting the JE loss in 2021 would be better than offsetting the loss in the future? Taxwise, my income is likely to be lower in 2022-2023 than in 2021, where I claimed significant capital gains.

Q: I need some tax-loss advice. I would like to sell Just Energy with a loss and the loss can be covered with a gain after selling RY. After selling RY, I would like to buy RY back in a couple of days. Is there any risk in realizing the loss and buying RY a couple of days later? What is your advice? Thanks.
Q: May I please ask what's the reason for stock price rising on past 5 days? Is this company investable in your opinion?
Thanks,

Q: Not an investing question, but can you help me understand, at least a big-picture view, some of the financial impacts behind last months Texas weather?
AQN has already indicated a $45M hit as a result (and this is presumably mostly or entirely built in to recent share prices). JE apparently (?) owes $250 as a result, which they can't pay and hence are seeking creditor protection. Brazos Electric Power Co-op (of Texas) supposedly owes a whopping $1.8 billion for the same event.
To whom is that money paid (in AQN's case) or owed (in JE's & Brazos case) -- ERCOT? But ERCOT is a member/supplier-owned non-profit, and AQN, JE, Brazos et al are the members, so isn't the money just circulating among the members?
Meanwhile, the end users -- individuals and business using the power -- are paying huge electric bills. We have friends in Dallas who got 5-figure electric bills for their home!
Where does the "buck stop" in this merry-go-round?
Are you in a position to shed any light on this?

Q: I purchased a convertible bond from Just Energy a few years back that they recently "force converted" to equity because they couldn't pay the interest on the bond anymore from what I can tell. This thing has been a disaster. Is their business viable anymore?

Q: As an owner of JE.DB.D I have rights that allow me to buy JE shares at $3.41 per share. Currently JE is trading at $0.46 per share but it is doing a consolidation of 33 to 1 so the new price for JE shares should be about $0.46 x 33 = $15.18 per share. Based on this information I should exercise my rights and buy the shares. Please comment if you agree. I realize with this dilution it will drive the price down but buying the new share at $3.41 per share still seems to be the right thing to do.
Q: Are Jim Pattison,Ron Joyce, and the the Demerais still involved in Just Energy ?
Q: Analysis please and your outlook for this beaten down stock. I am down 50% and need your guidance on buy sell or hold.
Thanx Gary

Q: I regretfully bought both of these stocks for the high dividend payouts. At this point Im sitting at a 50% loss on both stocks. They each represent a decent chunk of my total portfolio. Also they’re in my TFSA. Should I take the loss on these now or wait them out for a bit? Thanks!
Q: I see Robert L. Snyder of Stream Energy in the USA has filed to purchase a material amount of shares (as of Sept. 23, he had purchased 8.3% of JE. Stock is up from it's low, but do you think there will be continued buying and demand on for the stock?
Q: What is happening with JE? Is there any news?
Q: I have held 2,000 shares in JE for about 9 nine years. At the current price I am down $25K, a net loss of $13K if dividends received are counted. Is there any reason to expect a turnaround, or should I sell.
Q: does just energy still pay a dividend or not. thanks
Q: I hold some Just Energy Convertible Debentures (JE.DB.C) as part of my fixed income allocation. With the recent setback they have fallen from about $95 to $80. If the company restructures I assume they will go to zero, but if the company survives or gets bought out they should return close to par. What would you recommend at this point and are there any signals to look for that would scream get out now no matter what the loss?
Q: Is this company toast?
Q: How can Just Energy continue to pay their same divy even after a money losing quarter.?! Stock was up 5% today to $4.74!
