Q: CHE.UN - been holding this for years, but is now the time to let go as future prospects look dim, take my losses and find something more viable? And what would be more viable along with a decent dividend? Thanks...Glenn P.
Q: What do you make about Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund? The key statistics don’t look great (negative profit margin) and the share price over the past 5-years has just declined.
It does pay a very high dividend though.
Thanks

- Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund (CHE.UN)
- Fiera Capital Corporation Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (FSZ)
- Atrium Mortgage Investment Corporation (AI)
Q: Thank you for your answer; between those companies, which one are your favorite for holding in the long run and would it be relatively safe to invest in them ? I only know personally fiera and keyera.
Q: I have had CHE and EXE in my RIF for quite awhile.
Cost $74,526 total and currently worth $35,010 for a loss of $39,516 (Ouch!!)
Being in my RIF, there is no tax write off but selling either or both will free up $35,010 of cash for other more (hopefully) rewarding items.
The same with VET in my TFSA but even with VET's dividend cut its still paying me about 10%+ dividend on my cost of VET.
Given all the issues with Long Term Care Facilities and Corona-19, is EXE still a good long term bet?
I'm inclined to sell CHE and stay the course with the other two.
Your thoughts?
Brian

Q: I am retired and have both a cash and RIF account. In my cash account are the big 5 Banks, T & BCE, FRU & IPL. I see that IPL has cut the dividend & FRU has a "1,437% Pay out Ratio (PoR)!! I have mostly REITs in my RIF & EXE & CHE.
I'm not concerned re the banks or telecoms but the PoR of FRU, CHE & EXE are of concern to me. I also feel that in the longer term, the REITs will survive especially with interest rates so low. Also, to replace IPL would you consider PPL
Your thoughts please.

Q: Dear sirs,
Looking for your insights into the outstanding debt of both company's, noting the large discounts in current pricing. Assuming I am comfortable with the volatility and can hold the debentures should one expect to receive par value on maturity
Thank you,

Q: I didn't see a div cut detail in the news- also what is the debt situation?
Q: But sell or hold?
Q: Sell or hold after precipitous drop
Q: What do you think of their latest guidence for the year.
Q: I'm looking into selling my remaining small position in CHE.UN (0.3% of the portfolio) either now or after they report Feb 14... a 'pulling the weeds' exercise.
To help decide on the timing could you please provide the Bloomberg EPS estimates for the latest quarter (reporting Feb 14) and for the next FY. Or you may provide a rational for pulling this weed now rather than trying to get a few more dollars out of a potential bump from a Q report!
Thanks.

Q: Do corporate bonds perform well during recession? I am thinking of buying one of Chemtrade’s debentures, series B, C, D or E. Which one will perform better?
Q: I have been following CHE.UN for some time. But have never been able to pull the trigger. Over the past 5 years it’s total return has been negative in spite its high dividend. Some analysts have been recommending the stock. Am I missing something here?
Q: Comments please on latest quarterly report for CHE.UN.
Also a follow up on my previous question about dividend cuts impacting share price. General: In what circumstances do dividend cuts positively impact share price; Specific: do you think CHE.UN share price benefit from a dividend cut?
Thanks.

Q: Your thoughts on their latest 1/4, thanks
Q: Context: CHE.UN is 0.3% of our portfolio, it's down 50%. The price is not improving and the dividend has been the same since Feb 2007.
What do you think of the strategy of holding CHE.UN through a dividend cut... in the hopes that the share price will increase after the cut. A pattern that *seems* to follow most dividend cuts.
Thanks.

Q: Is the 11% + Dividend safe? Thanks!
Q: Good afternoon,
I need to diversified investments from the Finance sector, which I am little bit over expose. I have no investment in the Material sector. This is in my RRSP Portfolio and the investment will not exceed 5% of my total portfolio. I am a long term investor and looking mainly for income. Which of these two companies do you recommend Chemtrade or Labrador Iron Ore?
Thank you.

Q: based on your comments, it looks like I should sell this investment. do you still recommend selling it even though the share price has been going up recently and it still pays a hefty dividend? If I sell should I wait until just after Sept 30, the next dividend payment date? if not why? what do you currently recommend replacing it with?
thanx
