Q: Baytex has had a nice run here, do you think it's still a good buy? Differentials on heavy oil have narrowed significantly, do you think this is "permanent" or will they blow out again and take down the heavy oil companies.
Q: Heavy oil There has been a lot of talk about Albertan heavy oil differentials playing catch up to WTI and WTI to Brent yet the companies themselves haven't really moved. That is except for MEG! What do you people think and where should one go? BTE looks safe and tempting...
I am looking to invest in Baytex (BTE). I know that they're product is mainly heavy oil. Is the price of heavy oil follows the same trend as light oil?
Q: I have a large position in Baytex, and it is very much underwater now, but I do like the good dividend. Scotia Capital rates BTE 'Outperform', Cannacord Adams calls it a Buy, but Ford Equity Research rates it a Sell. I'd very much appreciate your opinion of BTE. Thanks.
Q: In a recent reply, you mentioned that our Oil & Gas holdings, were too high, at 16% of our total investments. One of these is Baytex, which I bought in both my TFSA and our Joint account for its dividend and growth. It has been a great disappointment with an 11.5% loss to date. Is the dividend safe? Should I hold it for eventual recovery? Or should I sell? We also have CPG which is similarly down, plus HSE, CVE and KEY. Thoughts?
Q: I have taken a big hit in Baytex lately. down about 15%. How safe is the dividend? And is Baytex a sell, hold or buy at this price? Also, I have BTE in my TFSA as well as our joint portfolio. Should I sell one and hold the other?
Q: Given the most recent share prices, which would be your equity choice, Crescent Point Energy (CPG) or Baytex Energy (BTE)and why, and would you have any concerns about eithers dividend substainability
Q: When investing anew in the oil patch, should one go for BTE rather than COS ? BTE seems to be struggling somewhat with the differentials, while COS gets a good price for its SCO, but struggles with improving production up to design capacity. Both have good reserves, but COS is there for the next 50 years. Obvious better anternatives to these two names ?
Q: Just renewed for another year...your service is helpful and very cost effective for the average retail investor. I believe that oil prices are going to rise over the next year and would like your opinion on a couple of suggestions for oil stocks? Perhaps a growth and a dividend paying option. Thanks.
Q: Peter, with the growth we have had in Cr Point over the years I feel it is time to lower our holdings in it by about 23%.In order to replace the income from this 23% I am thinking of putting it into Baytex 63% Eagle energy 24% and Parrallel energy 13%. We need the extra yield from Eagle and or Parralel to get the same income we had from it being in Cr, Point. Your opinion please? I feel Baytex is very good. Eagle or Parralel? Thanks Ken
Q: Hi Peter, I'm finally above water on Suncor and am looking for a better dividend paying energy stock to replace Suncor with.
Which do you think would be the best of the two choices for a long term hold BTE or CPG ? I would also be adding these to my TFS and taking DRIPS on them.
Thanks, Den.
Q: I have a few holdings that are currently below water & could be sold to trigger losses to offset gains already realized this year. I would appreciate your opinions. Given today’s prices which of the following would you liquidate now: COS, CPG, ERF, JE, PGF, PWT, PBN, TA?
Now for the proceeds; what securities of a similar risk/return profile (long term potential for growth with reasonable dividend while I wait for the growth) would you suggest? FYI, of the securities you have rated, I currently hold ATP, BEP.UN, CUS and have small holdings (ie. room for more) in CSH.UN, ECI, HR.UN, THI, and WIN.
