Q: Hello,

I have a diversified portfolio across all sectors. I recently sold most of my big losers like CXR and PHM etc. I'm now left with the following three losers: MG, ECN/EFN and AD.

I just don't know what to do with these. I'm down about 25% in each. I regret not selling CXR once it was down 25% and instead took a 75% loss and don't want to be in that position again. Should I sell any of these? MG seems to be the best company of the three, but it hasn't recovered this year like other stocks (at least not from where I bought) and now with Trump in there are a lot of fears about the auto sector, and I'm worried it will keep going downhill as NAFTA discussions begin. Anyways, I'm interested in what you think I should do with these three companies.

Q: Hello 5i Team, I am down signifigantly in each of these 6 holdings. I'm prepared to hold for the next few quarters if any will make turnarounds in 2017. I'd appreciate your opinion. All are in a non registered account.
Thanks

Q: I have a 5% position in Alaris and am significantly under water. Earlier this year I sold CJT at a nice profit so I am sitting with a nice capital gain. I am thinking of selling Alaris for the loss and to offset some of the capital gain with Cargojet, As I like Alaris and it's dividend I would most likely buy it back after 30 days. My question is do you like this strategy and if yes would you execute it before or after Alaris reports next week ?

Thanks Ken

Q: Hi,

I need to prune my financials and I am down to looking at DIV and AD. In looking at DIV, the question I ask is, "Would they have sold Franworks if they weren't confident that they had something in line to redeploy the cash into?" With AD, it is "When will they be able to get some resolution with troubled partners?"

In any otherwise balanced portfolio, which of the two companies would you choose to keep at this time?

Regards,

Robert

Q: I had held alaris for quite a while - great dividend payer, but very bumpy ride on the stock price. I recently sold it all to use the loss to cover another gain, and had planned on buying it back after 30 days. It has continued to drop, however, and now as I near the 30 days I am having second thoughts. Would you consider buying it back now that it is so low, wait for the next quarterly report before buying, or just move on? I would be holding it mainly for income.
Thank-you

Q: I hold small positions in AD and CHE.UN and have some cash to invest to generate income as I am a retired investor. Which of these two companies would be the best or do you have another company with similar yield that you like better? Is this a good time to put extra cash to work or should one wait? I am not a fan of trying to "time" the market but do like to try to preserve my capital.
Thank you.

Q: I'm in the process of ranking tax loss candidates and try to decide between DH and AD which one has a better chance to show signs of life before 2016 YE.

I'm leaning towards DH only for the reason it's seemingly under certain manipulators' control (based on the hard drive downwards trade actions of late) and unless they turn out to be like what you said "short sellers are not god, they can loss money too"). AD is a "show me" story, but can they do a turn around by Q3?

Your assessment will help greatly in my decision. Thanks.

By the way no more use of stop losses for me. I foolishly lost EIF and I'm buying it back at a premium today. Another lesson learnt at a high tuition. LOL.
