Can you recommend a platform and some ETFs?

What do you think about BTCC?

Q: For gold, I've always liked your idea of holding the real thing. I therefore followed your advice to have PHYS which I hold as an insurance rather than for trading.

I'm looking to build the same thing in Bitcoin for about 5% of my portfolio. Can you recommend an ETF or fund that is based on holding bitcoin (rather than one that places bets on it).

I'd like to know your opinion on the best one in CAD and in USD. Since I'm holding it for the long term, would it be better to covert to USD and hold it all there?

Please also give your opinion on the 'insurance' strategy and whether you think 5% of each of gold and bitcoin is a suitable amount for this purpose.

Thanks as always.

Q: Could you compare the cumulative returns between BTCC and BTCY for the past 2 years or so. I know a yielding product would typically return less over time with an appreciating underlying asset, but I'm wondering what the comparison is assuming one reinvested dividends?

Also, could you also suggest what bitcoin etf in Canada has the lowest fees or the best one to use for a long term hold?

Thanks very much

Q: Everyone, Bitcoin, there has been a lots of talk about crypto for many years but I am hesitant until it is supervised by the treasury departments of countries. Until then it is nothing more than a digital currency that could have no value. That being stated politicians will start to approve if it will get them a vote. Rule number one of a politician is get elected and rule two is get re elected. So do I wait or do I purchase an ETF? Do I purchase in quarter pieces over the course of a year? Or what? Clayton

Q: Hello Team,
I am newbie when it comes to understanding Bitcoin as a digital currency. But we continue to become more and more of a digital world.
I understand this year, the SEC approved ETFs that can be bought and sold on the exchange providing more options for liquidity. Is this also the case for Canada?
Do you believe Bitcoin would be reasonable investment holding as a small portion (say less than 10%) of an total portfolio.
Do you see a reasonable future /demand and use for bitcoin?
If yes, could you recommend 3 bitcoin ETFs that reasonable AUM and daily volumes
Thank you,

I understand there a number of questions here that require the use of more credits. That is fine and look forward, as usual to your respone.

Q: I am retired and comfortable with the mix of stocks I have but with the increase in chatter about bitcoin I wonder if I am missing something. I have looked at bitcoin as a pyramid scheme and avoided it. Can you comment on its value and if you think is has any, maybe suggest some options to buy into this new commodity.

Q: Hi The focus on bitcoin these days I am surprised that I can’t find more questions or information about bitcoin and related cryptocurrencies on the 5i website.

I can’t help but wonder if I’m just not asking the right questions or looking in the right places.

If that’s the case, can you please direct me to the proper area so I can do some homework before making a commitment

On the other hand, if there isn’t anything currently available on your website, could you please tell me what your top three bitcoin purchases would be?

Addition, could I have your thoughts on Solana and Ethereum going forward

As always, thank you so much for your help. Much appreciated.

Q: I recently bought some IBIT shares and since the purchase my Portfolio Analysis summary has gone wonky. In the detail section for IBIT percentages; Asset Class: Fixed Income: 3055.98%, Diversified: -93.07%. Cash: -421.34%, Equity: -2441.58%. Geography and Sector breakdowns are also all over the place. Needless to say the summary of my portfolio is unreliable. Can this be fixed?

Q: Can you suggest some Canadian and US listed stocks and ETF's one might want consider to get a small exposure to BlockChain in a TFSA. Do any of these companies make any money? Do you think the ETF's are reasonable proxies for BitCoin but with less volatility?

Q: I hold approximate 5% of my portfolio in Crypto stocks (ETF's and Mining companies). With the SEC's approval of ETF's should I consider selling a few of the above and purchasing one of these new ETF's and if so, which one would you recommend. Thanks

Q: Hi 5i team,

I am wondering if we should switch from the Canadian to the US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have lower fees and higher liquidity. The US ETFs charge as low as low as 0.20%, while the Canadian ones charge around 0.88%. The US ETFs also have more trading volume and assets than the Canadian ones.

However, moving to the US ETFs would also involve some costs and risks, such as currency conversion, tax implications, and exchange rate fluctuations. It might also be too early to judge the performance of the US ETFs, as they are very new.

Please share your thoughts.

Best,
Matt
