Q: Hi Team,
I was considering selling out of my oil stock WCP to purchase either / or a combination of adding to Shop, Nvda, and Toi. Would you see this as advisable for a goal of maximum returns over the next 5yrs ? Thanks

If you were to hold two names, would you go with the top two or would you do something else (eg one blue chip and one smaller growth player)?

Q: Hi Team,
With the recent slump in some of these oil names, do you see a name like WCP being bought out by a bigger company such as CVE that operate in some of the same area? You would think M&A would start happening with valuations where they are on some of these names. CVE with a P/E of 10.9, and WCP only having a P/E of a mere 2.0 (according to my trading platform numbers). This all being said, is it time to buy some of these high quality mid cap oil names that have been hit recently? Your comments are appreciated.

Q: Hi 5i
I own both TVE and WCP and have done OK with each. However, except from what might be available from those two holdings I don't have any exposure to natural gas, a commodity that is getting lots of attention these days. To remedy that, I'm considering parting ways with TVE and hooking up with BIR.
In your opinion, is natural gas production worthy of pursuit at present and, if so:
(1) is BIR a good vehicle for that pursuit and
(2) on strictly a growth basis would you expect BIR to outperform TVE over the next year or so, and why or why not?

Q: Hey 5i: I am overweight with whitecap and down 5% in the 9$ range ,could use for tax loss but like the dividend. Would definitely sell at 10$ but also would be fine breaking even because I may need this money in the next 8months to a year.With this in mind do you like it as a hold considering needing the money is not a certainty. Tough call but appreciate your input.Tks. Larry

(Eric Nuttal seems to think they will do well for quite a while yet, though he seems to always be bullish - or maybe just talks his book...)

Q: Thanks to your wonderful Portfolio Tracking and Analysis, I know that Energy makes up 11.07 % of my portfolio. Your statistical recommendation is that energy should be 5 % of my personalized portfolio. In order of rate of return, I have Tourmaline Oil, Enbridge, Whitecap, Suncor, Athabasca and Tamarack Valley. I am more heavily weighted in Tourmaline and Enbridge but my question is twofold. Am I really overweight in energy at this time and if so other than trimming from my two big winners, which two or three companies would you eliminate to pare back closer to 5%? The proceeds would go to buying ATD.b and Loblaws. Thanks for this wonderful service.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan and 5i team,

You answered Maureen's question about TOU and TPZ as follows:

"We like both, but would consider TOU more of a growth story and TPZ more for income. We would be comfortable with a swap if that matches an investors' objectives."

How would you answer if WCP was the stock I'm considering to sell (not TPZ) in order to buy more TOU? (I realize that WCP is more of a growth story, but it's quite a bit more volatile than TOU.)

Q: Between CJ and WCP which one is more likely to attain a higher combined return for a three year hold?

At the moment CJ (7.7%) has a much higher yield than WCP (5.00%). Are these rather high yields sustainable over a three year run?
