Q: Looking to invest additional US dollars into a high interest ETF. Currently invested in UCSH.U, but are there others ones I should be considering as better options.

Q: Hello 5i Team

For the reader asking for US$ denominated money market funds at RBC Direct Investing - suggestions are:

RBF2014 a US$ investment savings account with Royal Bank of Canada ($100k CDIC insurance) - trades as a mutual fund but no commission. Interest rate is competitive (4.90 %)

Any of the TSX listed US cash etf listed - RBCD charges $9.95 per buy or sell - as long as buying/selling greater than $1,000 the percentage charged is cheaper than the mutual fund charge (1 % to max $50).

Thanks

Q: I am holding a lot of cash in anticipation of buying a condo in the next 6 months. My main concern is capital preservation. What is safer: short term bonds or HISAs? Assuming a significant decrease in interest rates during the next 6-8 months, would short term bonds offer a greater total return than HISAs?
Thanks!

Q: My Son hopes to buy a condo in the next 6 months and has sold most of his stocks and now holds mainly cash. PSA, CASH, CBIL and UBIL.U all currently yield in the 5% range. I am thinking he is best to put most the funds in CBIL and UBIL.U, since these may benefit a bit if interest rates fall, whereas the yield in PSA and CASH would decrease. Or is he best to put funds in PSA or CASH and sacrifice a possible decrease in yield, for a safer investment in HISA ETFs. Thank you for your comments!!

Q: I am looking for a short term safe investment for Canadian and US cash in a non-registered account. CBIL according Global X website holds 0-3 month Canadian government bonds, but when purchasing on Questrade, 0-3 mo U.S. T-bill pops up - is CBIL US or Canadian bonds? With UBIL.U in a non-registered account will there be US withholding tax on the estimated 5.25% yield? Thanks!

Q: I often have a variable amount of cash in my USA trading account, while I am looking for trades. Which safe money market fund with a good dividend would you recommend that I can use for short term holds? For example for my Canadian funds I use CMNY, I can trade it like a stock using my TD account. I got that recommendation on BNN market call. It has been very useful. I would like a similar one for the USA. Thanks for all your great advice and service.

Q: I need to sell 1/3 of my portfolio and park the cash for 3-6 months. TD will not allow me to buy PSA, CASH, HISA, or HSAV. Can you recommend a few other good options.
Thank you,
Derek

Q: Hi,

Can you offer your words of wisdom about this product. I don't see any questions this when I searched your archives. Came across this product some time ago when a guest on BNN mentioned this.

Is this a safe place to park my USD (iTrade allows me to hold USD) Are thee any other products that are similar and less expensive? It's MER is 0.12 according to Horizon's website.
Is this okay to hold them in both registered and non registered accounts? With the long anticipated pullback on its way, I thought parking cash in USD is a way to go. Plus USD seems to weakening and may be worthwhile to buys some now?

As always many thanks in advance.
