Q: I'm retired with a relatively conservative portfolio. Would like to add a bit of risk / reward and have considered LMN, partly because of its link to a very solid CSU. Questions:
How much influence / control does CSU have on this company? Is there a way to describe it or measure it ?
In a long recession scenario, generally speaking would the odds of its survival be better because of its association with CSU compared to other small caps?
It's P/S multiple appears to be around 3.6 X. This seems somewhat reasonable to me compared to some tech stocks in the U.S. Would you agree / disagree ?
Q: Have the following in a basket. Closely weighted. Looking to add a new similar weighting equity, want to buy and leave for 10 years. Can you provide top 3 suggestions please. As always, thank you.
Q: Would you kindly pick 4 stocks (at least 1 of which is a Canadian stock) that you believe could increase in value by 1000% over the next 10 years. Each must have a current market cap of at least $750M. Please provide a short reason for selecting each stock. Thank you.
Q: Hi team,
Since it's been a little while since LMN announced it's acquisition of some Nokia assets, has there been any more information found on perhaps more of the financial details of this acquisition? I was thinking that somebody must know some details? Perhaps analysts that had been familiar with Nokia might know the revenue estimates of the assets that were sold to LMN? The stock moved up dramatically since the acquisition; almost like someone was in the "know" . Just curious here. Also...at what point would you consider LMN a "buy" again (I had thought it was previously mentioned that the shares might pullback some after the quick run up). The shares have pulled back some in the new year...should I be patient before adding or just buy now? I was debating on either buying either LMN or BN for a long term tfsa contribution and cannot decide which one,
Q: Hi group Happy new year to all. Can yo give me your top picks (stocks or etfs) in the following sectors and a brief comment + good entry price pays Strong dividend US or CAD
Financials - I Own GSY TD, FFH, BN, BAM
Energy - I own ARC, ENB, F, NRGI
Healthcare - BIO TECH - I have no exposure but like CVS at present levels
Q: Looking to add 2-3 names of the above small caps to my TFSA this month. With the exception, of LMN and GLXY all are down substantially. Question. Which have the biggest up side in 2024, for a long term hold. Please rate them 1-8 with short comments for growth and safety,
Q: Do you have any timely and suitable names for my TFSA contrib this year? I tend to buy things that are quite growthy in my TFSA. As such its already chock full of technology. Open to US or Canuck names but they need to be quite liquid. Happy New Year
Q: Hi, Large Cap Tech stocks in US started the new year with a sharp pull back.
In Canada, Shopify was the one which followed the trend with 6-7% drop. Constellation Software was largely unchanged and Lumine is consolidating from recent sharp gains. We hold all above stocks in our Non-Regd as well as TFSA accounts. There is about $80k TFSA Contribution room available, due to withdrawls made last year. We are considering In-Kind contributions to add to our TFSA holdings when MV of these stocks are lower, in order to limit crystallization of capital gains, as all of these names have large gains embedded, in our taxable account. Is it a reasonable approach ?
If technology sector witnesses some more decline (after very strong returns during 2023), what are the next Technical support levels for these three stocks ?
Q: Hi 5i,
With the recent jump up in stock price for Lumine, would you expect some price consolidation for a while due to the size of the recent acquisition? Or, after this large purchase, are they still able to carry on with business as usual?
Q: Hello Peter,
I recently asked about Topicus and whether i should sell and move onto Lumine Group. You had indicated, given Topicus's valuation, there is no need to sell and move onto Lumine group as the valuation seems to be inline .. I do not want to take a loss but it seems that Lumine group is getting alot of attention. What do you feel is a good entry point for Lumine group as it looks like Topicus maybe just a slow steady stock.. Much appreciated.
I'm looking to put my 2024 TFSA money into once concentrated bet. This would be a longterm hold (ie: decades possibly, if the story keeps getting better). Do you think LMN would be a good name that would qualify? If not, what would currently be a better bet?
Q: Hello Peter,
Any idea why topicus is not participating as much as lumine group. The stock seems to be held in the trading range in the low 90s. I thought the fundamentals for topicus was good.. I am still down on topicus and was wondering if i should take a loss and move onto to lumine group. Thanks very much
