Q: Thanks for your explanation on BN and BAM ..... However I still don't see the thesis for buying BN ..... Mr Market is giving no credit to " cash in the bank " ..... Mr Market knows everything we do yet gives the capital gains to BAM.... For example BAM is up 3.57% today and BN is up 1.6% on an upmarket day .... And since inception BAM has consistently been the one rewarded .... Mr Market is giving the nod for both income and growth currently to BAM...... Why shouldn't I have my cake and eat it too ?

Q: I am looking to set up an RESP for grandchildren aged 8 and 6 with about $40k that will be added to annually. I am thinking of purchasing 8 stocks in roughly equal amounts - ISRG, CROX, GOOG, NVDA, BN, LMN, SMCI, HPS.A

Is 8 stocks too limiting and should I look at ETFs for some sectors or should this give the plan a good start and greater diversification can occur as the plan grows?

Anything you see here that raises a red flag or are there other stocks I should consider?

Appreciate your insight.

Q: There has been lately a significant advertising pressure regarding alternative investments . What is your opinion on these? Which Canadian companies could be considered as being sort of companies with an alternative investments focus which would fulfill such type of investment for a small independent retail Canadian investors? Would you also recommend some US names with a similar focus. Thank you.

Q: Hi team,
BIPC is currently still 45% below its 52week high. Bn is now only 4% below its 52week high . Do you see BIPC playing catch up here ? Is it not a more compelling buy at this point than Bn while it’s down here , plus it’s almost 5% div ? I was looking for your thoughts if it would be wise to buy some BIPC at these levels and collect the nice div while waiting or sp recovery ?

Thanks ,

Shane

Q: I hold both BX and BN at almost full positions. I am considering selling BX to purchase WPC to increase my dividend income and hopefully benefit from rising property prices. Are BX and BN similar enough that this strategy makes sense or would I be just as well off staying the course?

Appreciate your insight.

Q: Would you be able to tell me the trailing P/E and estimated forward P/E for BN and BRK.B? I assume this may be difficult for BRK.B, when they often seek permission to not disclose all of their current holdings. Where can I find the most accurate P/E info for Canadian and US stocks?
Thanks!

Q: What is your opinion on the prospects of Cenovus(CVE) and Ovintiv(OVV) over the next 5 and 10 years ? What are your thoughts on selling them (old stocks that could be sold for a tax loss) and replacing them, as a long-term hold, with some Brookfield stock (BN, BEP and/or BIP)? If you favor that, which Brookfield company would you recommend be given the greatest weight ? Or is it better to hold onto those oil and gas stocks for a while?

Q: In previous questions on BAM and BN 5i has generally shown a preference for BN for capital gains and BAM for income investors . In a question by Peter this morning 5i's answer showed a year to date return of 25% for BAM and 14% for BN {assuming that squiggly line in front of BN doesn't mean a loss } .... I realize the period is short but what is the historical return of each versus each other from inception of the newer security ? { And which one is the newer security and how long has it existed ? } ..... And if BN doesn't come out a clear winner please explain your thesis on income versus capital gains ?..... I am considering buying one of them in my RRIF ..... Thanks Garth

Q: Hi Folks,

My RRSP portfolio consists of the above stocks all with relatively the same weighing. Can you suggest 5 names or so, (CDN and U.S) that I take a look at that would complement the above? I am looking for a company that would be a good buy today for both income and capital appreciation - total return.
Thanks

Q: Hello, I have some money to deploy and have picked the above lucky 13 stocks. Are you able to put them in order in which you would purchase them (1 to 13). I know there is a wide range of companies, industries and cap size. This would be in a cash account and looking for capital gains over the next 3 years. I'm okay with lots of risk in this account.

Q: I own BEP and BIP. I am tying to understand their relationship to BAM and BN. The BAM website mentions their investments in renewables and infrastructure amongst other investments withut specifically mentioning BEP or BIP. Are these investments a reference to BEP and BIP or do they have additional investments in these areas?. Does BAM manage these investments by managing BEP and BIP while BN owns them? In which case, one can own both BEP and BIP by simply owning BAM or BN. Or are BEP and BIP separate companies that simply pay dividends to BAM or BN based on their percentage of ownership? I'd really appreciate if you could sort this out for me. Thanks.
