Q: Good morning Peter and Team,
Congratulations on the revamped website which is a pleasure to use.
I recently sold ZCL which is in my TFSA. I want to invest the proceeds into another energy stock, but also want to reduce my total number of holdings since I have too many stocks for the portfolio size. Given that we own these energy stocks: ENB, PKI, and TOG, which of these would you invest the proceeds today? BTW, in your answer to another member, you suggested he sell TOG (we're also down, and I'm frustrated in general with the oil producers) so am considering selling it as well. It's in my wife's RRSP but the loss would be offset by the stellar results received from a majority of your suggestions. (Portfolio approach!)
As always, thanks for the valued advice.

Q: Hi, I just read an article, that said the high price at the pumps were do to the refineries getting higher margins. If that is the case, and it is not the first time I heard this, then there must be some companies in Canada that are doing really good? The oil and gas sector has been down for years, getting impatient I guess.
I was thinking of selling my energy companies WCP,PEY&TOG and replacing them with refinery or related companies for more growth.
Do you agree with this switch, and could you name two or three stock that you could recommend.
Thanks,

Q: Going forward, I’d appreciate your advice as to the potential to recover on these stocks. I’m down 16% on PKI, 17% KWH.UN, 18% on VET and 23% on ENB. I appreciate the dividends, am well diversified, have a half position in all but Crius (full position) and willing to hold for an extended period of time. What do you see for each of these in the next 1 - 2 year period. I guess I’m now questioning if being well diversified (energy) will continue to work against me given that it is 9% of my portfolio and I believe you’ve recently suggested 5% is adequate at this time. Subtract as many credits as warranted. Thanks!

Q: I have the above stocks in the energy sector and am at a 7.2% total. I'd like to sell two and increase either my holding in C. Non. Cyclical or Healthcare. Which 2 would you sell and what you you buy?

Thanks for the great advise.

Q: In your Balanced Equity portfolio, you hold both ATD.b and PKI. I thought PKI was a smaller version of ATD.b with gas stations and convenience stores. ATD.B is classified as a Consumer Non-cyclical while PKI is classified as Energy. Why the difference? Both have done nothing lately. Which one would you prefer for long-term growth. Also, ATD.b is not rated while PKI is a B. Does this impact your preference or not?
I am new to this site but love the Q&A.
thanks

Q: Hi, Our investment portfolios across family are made up of a combination most companies from Balanced Portfolio, some from Income portfolio and a few others like CM(10%- reasons of affiliation), TD (3.5%), CWB(1.5%), JWEL(1.5%), RPI.un(2.5%). Objective is Mostly growth and income.
I am grateful to 5i research team for recommending companies like CSU,PBH,TOY,SIS, KWH.un and CCL.b and providing timely and consistent updates, resulting in substantial gains. Many of these successful companies would have escaped my attention, if not for your valuable advice.

My question is about a few stocks, listed in subject line, which, during my YTD review, continue to show decline in value (although we have in built gains in all of these). Except SYZ and ENB others are inside RRSP's. Does it make sense to liquidate a part of these holdings and deploy capital elsewhere ? Total value of above is about 15% of my portfolio with SYZ being the largest, 6% and GUD being the smallest,1%.

Thanks again for the excellent service !!

Q: In your recent answer regarding 3 growth stocks in a TFSA you chose KXS,PBH,SIS. I wonder if you could elaborate on your thoughts about how you chose these. PKI, as an example seems, to have a good growth profile over the next 2 years and pays a nice dividend. Why not choose it.
I used the numbers provided by RBC Direct Investing below.
Thanks Mike

kxs Crnt P/e 1Yr Ern Gwth 2nd Yr Divi
KXS 121 37% 18% 0
PBH 35 42% 31% 1.61%
SIS 40 22% 50% 2.62%
PKI 65 37% 66% 4.5%
