Q: What can you comment about the impact on NFI of Lion Electric's latest news?
From my preliminary research, it appears Lion is not public and no details are available about it's financial position/results to date, although the move to New York via NGA Corp looks to position it as a ~$1.9 billion market cap (vs ~$1.2 billion for NFI).
It appears that Lion does not actually sell anything yet? (they're taking "pre-orders"), supposedly has capacity to build ~6,500 units per year (vs ~2,500 for NFI).
Any news or thoughts about their announced plans to build electric delivery vehicles for Amazon fit with Amazon's announced "plans" to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian/Ford?

Q: I hold some big loss holdings, such as those above, in registered accounts. Even though there is no opportunity to claim tax losses, would it make sense to consider selling them, at least until the new year, to avoid further losses resulting from tax loss season?
Thanks for your insights

Q: I am looking at tax loss selling of these 4 companies. Down significantly on all 4. Is there any I should retain that may have hope of recovery.

Q: Hi 5i
After listening to the infrastructure update by the Canadian Gov't this morning and the areas they addressed ie: electric buses and clean energy projects etc will be priorities, I am thinking both NFI and XBC will benefit. Your comments please and any other suggestions.

Q: To add to Donald's question:

i have a position in NFI (now about 2,5 %). Considering that:
-its a long term hold (5 years +, no need for dividend money while waiting)
-that it is hold in a registered account ,so no taxes loss or gain
-that trading fees are not significant

would you keep the current NFI position or switch it to MG ?

Q: Would you buy NFI or MG? Both vehicle manufactures that are high beta. Similar dividends and both building vehicles for the low carbon future. Regular dividend increases for MG is good and NFI cut it's dividend. Which would you chose nd what would be your primary reason? Thanks Ron

Q: Hello 5i team,
I need to crystallize some losses to neutralize some 2020 capital gains: which would you sell first (in what order)? ACQ, CXI, MX, NFI, XTC? I am reluctant to sell : ACQ right now because of its excellent momentum. ACQ seemed to be turning things around before COVID, and they seem to be doing the right things again right now. Also reluctant to sell MX and NFI because they are slowly grinding higher and having good cyclical upside potential. If I sell CXI, I would feel like selling at the bottom, I would prefer to wait to see its performance when international travel reopens a little bit more (hopefully) in 2021. That leaves XTC, but I need a little more selling than only XTC. May be only a partial sale, but each only account for 1% to 1,5% of my total portfolio.
Thank you for your collaboration, Eric

Q: I hold NFI at a huge loss. recently the Globe and mail reported that Adam Gray, who sits on the board of directors, acquired a total of 152,300 shares at a price per share of $15.20 increasing this account’s holdings to 4,507,746 shares. The cost of this investment totaled over $3.8-million, not including trading fees.

This represents about 4% of outstanding shares of this company. Your opinion please on if it is wise to average down or just take my losses and move on,

Thanks

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and team,

My wife's TFSA consists of the above holdings. NFI is down 73.4%, and XMA is a tiny holding where we park cash (no commission with iTrade). The others are doing well, but perhaps they're not the best when held in a TFSA. Are there any outright sells, and what suggestions do you have to employ the possible cash? We'd like a bit more oomph from this account. Your advice is very valuable.
