Q: Looking to start a position in a canadian energy name. Was looking to do it a few months back but wasn't certain on which one to buy. Would you rank the names I have sent with your thoughts on each.
Thanks Gary

Q: Hi Team
I am looking for oil companies to invest in, I would like a mid to small cap, company with reasonable debt and fairly decent cash flow. I don't mind taken higher risk with small caps, I just feel that it gives me a better upside, and like I say I don't mind the risk. Would like a little in the oil sands as I see the wti discount is a lot lower than before and have read that the world refineries are short of the heavy oil, not sure if this is true or not. Lastly what gas producers will benefit from the new pipe line and refinery, assuming that the darn thing gets build. I know I have asked a few questions so please take as many credits as you like
Thank-you
Auftar

Q: Your thoughts on investing in these stocks at this time. Meg seems cheap at this price as was to be sold at $11.00 per share. Take as many points as deemed necessary.

Q: Recently you stated "We find it a bit interesting today. Management is under the gun to show it did the right thing by fighting the HSE takeover attempt. " My impression of the CEO interview on BNN last Friday was they are focusing on debt reduction with no intention of production increase. I'm pretty sure your not "a bit interested" because you expect a jump in the price of oil , management has indicated no production increase, I'm curious as to your rationale here?

Q: Thanks for your prompt answer on MEG. Given these circumstances what does the pricing dynamic look like? HSE failed to offer enough to persuade sufficient share holders to accept their offer, which implies a higher valuation should apply, so even if HSE foresaw issues which made it prudent to withdraw their offer, which should have been priced below their finally acceptable price, the current pricing should be well below that reasonably attributable to MEG, and what is the sentiment that might apply both to share holders that tendered and those that did not?

Q: If I read the news correctly Husky took up from tendered shares 50% of those outstanding at their bid price some $3 above todays price, and subsequent turnover is over 60 million. Assuming Huskey was a competent offeror an that the tendered shares were paid for what is to stop them acquiring the majority of the balance at todays much reduced price in the open market and would that be a competent and allowed strategy?

Q: Hi 5i: You recently answered my second question on MEG Energy - specifically that it was trading at approximately 13% below the value of the Husky offer. It doesn't seem that this has changed much in recent weeks - and I don't think Husky has raised their bid. I don't want to own Husky, so based on documentation sent by RBC Direct, I have to chose between, (a) selling the shares in the next few days or, (b) a cash option that reads "To receive C$11.00 for each share of MEG Energy Corp tendered, subject to proration." [This option is for "Non-Electing Shareholders (Non U.S.) only. I am Canadian, residing in Canada, and I hold the MEG shares in my RRIF.] Could you advise which option I should select? I don't have the data to calculate the proration amount. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Roland T.

Q: Thanks for the response to my MEG question. I have some MEG stock, and am unsure how to proceed given that it is trading at a $13 discount to the offer. Is it likely that the discount will narrow as the Jan 16 date approaches? Suggestions on what to do would be most welcome. Thanks for your always good advice. Roland
