Q: Hello Team
The $USD has been basically parabolic since July. I would like to hear your opinion regarding (1) The sustainability of such a move. Can the USD go it alone? (2) The effect on the U.S trade deficit. Was it not a strong dollar that contributed to large trade deficits in the past which , in turn, contributed to financial issues in the U.S. (3) The effect on U.S. companies selling abroad. Is it not a drag on their earnings. Is there any evidence of such a drag in the U.S. earnings yet. What do you guys think going forward?

Thank You for your valued opinion

Clarence

Q: In the US what are the equivalents to GUD, CRH, PLI, MSL, PHM and the like. In other words, if I'm looking to make high risk speculative investments in US pharma/biotech/healthcare stocks, what do you recommend. Your independent and straightforward insight is invaluable. Thank you!

Q: Hi Team - I've been following this company for the last 6 months. They don't seem to get a lot of attention but have a promising drug/ingredient called NIAGEN which could be a game-changer for the company. It seems the company might turn a profit this year. Could you please comment if a) they would be a buy-out candidate b) Since the ingredients are natural, would many drug companies pay any attention to it?? Thanks for your feedback.

Q: Hi Peter I know you do not follow US stocks too closely but would you mind giving me an opinion on Alcoa, I am up over 30% but the stock is well of its high of $17 US (presently just over $13) Is it best to cash out and move on or wait. I would have thought that the switch to alloys by Ford should have strengthen the sales but that has not been the case? Thanks for your great service

Q: Are you surprised at the listlessness of High Liner Foods, today, given the Kraft/Heinz deal? Looks like Kraft went from 19x this year's earnings to 26x this years earnings with its move today.

Do you have any insight whats to account for the large estimated eps increase from 2015 to 2016 for High Liner ($1.55 to $1.97)

Thanks.

Q: Hi
I realize 5i doesn't follow Kraft, but with today's popping news, what advice would you give to owners with a full position? Would you wait it out or cash in on the hype by selling this morning? Would you sell half and let the other half ride it out? Would love to hear how you handle a situation like this. I'm up 10% before the Heinz merger, but it's up another 30% in premarket this morning.
Thank you

Q: Greetings to all and I hope everyone is well. I am considering Hexcel for a long term hold as I like the sector and carbon fiber demand may increase in the future. Does HXL have a wide moat, or is it easy for other manufactures to produce carbon fiber? It seems expensive, but I think growth prospects are good. Thank you and best wishes to all.

Q: I have a handful of blue chip (industrial?) U.S. stocks which I'm up 20 to 40%. UTX,GE,AMT,AA,GLW. I would like to think of myself as a long term investor but with all the indicators of rising interest rates and pull backs, should I look at taking some profit here? I'm usually guilty of hanging on too long and not selling. I'd be looking at putting it into what you recommended to Nick for his TFSA on 03/24/15 WSP or STN,XTC, HGC, WCP and / or ATD.B
Thanks

Q: Hello 5i,

My CAN/US REIT portfolio needs some rebalancing and I'm thinking of buying National Health Investor (NHI)or Health Care REIT (HCN). I already hold HCP(HCP)therefore think NHI is the better choice here. What are your thoughts on this. I like to buy stocks for the long term with stability and some growth in mind, cuts down on maintenance.
Thanks,

Q: What do you think of CYS Investment, a US company. I understand that it is a REIT with a high dividend. What can you tell on this company? How it will be affected by a raise in the interest rate? Do you think that the dividend is safe and do you recommend to buy it for income? Or do you have better suggestions?

Thanks for your great service, Michel

Q: Looking to get some exposure to the US banking sector, one one hand everybody says that bac is a buy trading at less than book value. I also know that Benj Gallander has recommended func many times and he is very good at picking these small cap companies as long as your looking long term. What are your thoughts?

Q: Can you comment on Goldman Sachs downgrade of the stock today, and recent insider selling? Would this change your generally positive view of the company?

"We view Nvidia as a high-quality company with best-in-class technology and strong management. However, we believe the market has become complacent about the risk of Intel licensing revenue going away (with few sell-side analysts highlighting licensing in analyst day takeaways)," said Covello.

"Our SanDisk, Qualcomm and pharma case studies suggest stocks see 15%-60% multiple compression going into binary events where licensing/patents are in jeopardy. We believe the near-term catalyst to refocus investor attention on longer-term normalized EPS will be weakness in PC fundamentals (which Nvidia noted it is not seeing at its analyst day). We highlight that business tied to the broader PC ecosystem is 55% of EBIT today, with PC OEMs particularly at risk (15%-20% of EBIT ex. licensing)," continued the analyst.

"We could become more positive if Nvidia were to drive enough scale in new segments to offset the $264 mn in annual licensing profit, though we believe that auto & datacenter are becoming more competitive (and drive <10% of EBIT today)," he added.

Q: Hi Peter & Team: Could I please have your thoughts on yxm now that it has been operating for some time. If positive, would you still consider the unhedged version given the amount the cdn. dollar has already fallen.

Thanks, David

Q: Hello Team, Can I get your thoughts on this company and does it look like this is something worthwhile accumulating. The metrics do not look bad except the debt to equity seems high to me. Its revenue and ebitda have been increasing over the last five yrs. It's paying a small dividend, PE is about 14, roe is about 28, price to cash flow seems a little high. It seems to be gaining market share and getting more revenue streams. Your thoughts please on this company for long term investment 5yr+
