Q: Hi Peter

I own QSR at lower levels and am considering adding Starbucks with its pullback. They are the kind of companies I like to own with increasing dividends.
However, I have a hard time accepting P/Es in the mid 20s. Morningstar has SBUX with a forward P/E of 25. Still seems expensive even with its pullback. What do you think?

Cheers
John

Q: Hi, I know you've already answered a few questions on the exchange offered by PG but I'm still too obtuse to understand the ramifications.

Very simply, if I own 50 shares of PG and I tender them as part of the exchange, will I still own 50 shares of PG afterwards, plus the shares of the new spin-off, or will I only only shares in the new spin-off?

I have to provide instructions by September 28.

Thank you,

Q: I have just recieved some new money to invest and woukd like to increase my expsosure outside Canada. Im thinking of a US index fund. Can you please tell me the difference between VUN/VUS, HXS and SPY? Which one is better? Do you think this is a good time to invest in the S&P with it at all time highs?
As always your advice is greatly appreciated.

Q: Hey team, I've decided to add these two stocks to my portfolio as long-term investments. My one hesitation is with timing. As both are sitting around all time highs right now, would you suggest holding off for a couple months to see if they decline, or would you go ahead and pull the trigger? In a perfect world I'd like to pick these up around $700/share.

Q: Hi team, I'm just starting up my portfolio, and am looking for exposure in the Mining & Metals industry. As my account is still small, I'm trying to avoid transaction fees. Can you suggest one or two ETF's that target this industry, which you like for a 3-5 year hold. While I'm looking for growth potential, a decent dividend never hurt!

Q: Would like your comment on Suncoke Energy Partners. (SXCP US Stock) I realize you may not follow this U.S. stock but my question is this. Cash flow is strong as well as the balance sheet and yet the dividends they are paying is 16%. Wondering what is going on here. Or may it just be the Oil sector. Thanks for your response.

Q: This is a follow up to my September 20th question re Proctor and Gamble's offer re Galleria Company and beauty division spinoff. Can you explain the pro-rate allocation you mentioned. I was expecting $1.075 in Galleria Company stock in exchange for $1 of P & G stock. Is there a possibility of more, considering your comment on the majority of people tendering, due to the 7% discount. When you say "yes" to the offer were you also suggesting one would keep the Galleria stock, or simply flip it and go back into P & G.

Thanks

Paul

Q: Hello Peter,

I've held PHM (Pulte group) for two years as a play on US housing and as a US consumer discretionary holding. Given RCLs dividend increase (announced today), would it be a better asset for growth and income? (also US discretionary - but I think is classified as industrial.)

PS when I search for info about Royal Caribbean (RCL) I am still getting information about Ridley (a company I know nothing about).
Many thanks!

Q: I invested in a 'Global Small Cap' fund about 18 years ago. Incredibly, my return AFTER 18 YEARS is NEGATIVE 16%! (I guess this is lesson in the effects of both high mutual fund MERs and picking a lousy fund company!) Can you please suggest an ETF that would be good for the 'global small cap' space. Or another 'small cap' ETF or strategy, if you don't think a global small cap ETF is the way to go. Thank you!!
