Q: I currently hold OTC and KXS but am considering switching to EBIX, for two reasons. One is that I like the EBIX model, everything is in the insurance industry, any acquisitions can be integrated into improving existing products unlike say CSU where everything remains independent. The second, is that insurance will benefit from rising rates. I figure that rates will rise significantly in the next five years as a result of a shrinking labour force, aging population, resulting in wage inflation. The only negative is that EBIX is expensive following a stellar year. What are your thoughts.

Q: Hi 5i

I apologize..another US question. I have looked at CH AIG AFL PGR and MET. Do you feel there is more upside to US Insurance companies. So far in my research CH has not gone up as much as the others and AFL has had a big drop today. Would you suggest one to me please.
Thank you for your sage advice as always.

Q: My portfolio closely matches you balanced equity portfolio. As it looks like the US will outperform Canada over the next year I am thinking of picking up some US ETF's for about 20% of my portfolio. What do you think of this strategy and if you agree, what ETF's would you suggest?

Q: Peter and Team, I want to choose some ETFs for my mother in-laws RRIF and LIF. My approach is to be well diversified, looking for some dividend and a little growth to achieve btwn 5 to 10% annually. I plan to select Equal weights using ZLB,ZWB, ZDV FOR Canadian content and ZLH, ZWH, ZHY, and ZGI FOR US Content. Your opinion and any pitfalls or suggestions would be apprecuated.
Thanks, Steve.

Q: Hello 5i,
I an thinking about positionning my portfolio for long term growth and, as I respect your views considerably, I thought I may add GOOG and Qualcom, as well as JNJ, as you are quite positive on these stocks. (I checked them myself, of course, and what I am able to see confirms your ideas).

To do this, though, I am going to have to sell a few US stocks in which I have a pretty good profit. My question is whether you would see this as a good strategy, given that my sector allocations are OK?
The stocks that I would be thinking of selling are:
Finning-it is Canadian but I can get US dollars from it.
Goodyear tire and rubber
HPE:US hewlett packard
XHB:US a homeowners ETF that i have been holding for the rebuilding of housing in the US.
thanks
