Q: Hi 5i - considering making a switch from WIN to QCOM (which now pays a yield of 3.8% after a big drop today)? Im looking for long term yield and some growth. Does this make sense? Thanks!
Q: I currently have no exposure to the health care sector in my portfolio. I'm looking for companies that pay a bit of a dividend which is sustainable and have the ability to provide some steady capital appreciation. I realize that American stocks are not your expertise, but keeping my criteria in mind and watching what's going on with Canadian health care, I would appreciate your opinion on three American companies. Gilead, JNJ, and Walgreens.
Looking to the future, which of these companies has the best prospects? (keeping capital gain and dividend growth in mind)
Which 2 Canadian companies who you add to diversify my health care holdings?
Thanks for your guidance.
Q: I am looking to purchase an equity in a USD account in the tech area for a long term hold. Currently no tech exposure in the account.
FB or APPL ?.......or would you have a better recommendation. Thank you.....Jim
Q: Have you changed your thoughts on SODA at all? Can you comment on the recent quarter? Does lacklustre pretty much sum it up? And would you consider it to be a likely tax loss selling candidate?
Q: Please provide view on Starbucks. Looking for a long term steady hold like Disney or Apple. Understand it's expensive and paying a premium but is it worth it? Thx
Q: i would like to increase my US holdings by adding an etf that is concentrated in the technology and consumer discretionary/staples sectors. I currently hold VUN which is my only exposure to the US market. I realize that these sectors are covered in VUN, but have very small weightings. Does this seem like a reasonable strategy? Would you please suggest such an etf, preferably on the tsx.
Q: BNN said today the stock which is yielding more than 7.5% at $26 may drop to $13. Barron's is forecasting a price of $20.
What is your opinion going forward? Is it a sell or hold at about $26?
Is the dividend safe?
Thanks
Q: i am sitting on some usa cash as i don't think as a bad thing, but seeing some recommendations coming out on halliberton, and actually got stopped out of kroerger foods, maybe getting back some(canadian) tourmaline, your thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated, or is just having the cash a good thing now
Q: Visa bought Visa Europe but market does not seem to like it!! Can you explain? And what do you think of this stock for a 5 year hold? Plus how do you think the competition is for paying by phone? Thanks.
Q: Bought Teva in a dip a few years ago and have done pretty well with it. Know they face competition as patents for their MS drug roll off, which I believe represents 50% of their current profits, but never seems to be a bad as analysts predict. See the stock has dipped a bit as they've announced a couple of large acquisitions which look to me to be accretive. Any thoughts on the stock, thinking I might add some more here.
Q: Hershey had a bad third quarter results. Headline, Hershey cuts forecast on weak demand (slower growth)and higher marketing costs. Hershey's executives are saying. There is a growing gap between low-income and high-income buying patterns. Sanford Bernstein analyst says, there are health and wellness concerns and the premiumization of the chocolate category. Thus, what are your opinions--sell or buy and etc.? Is it a permanent or temporary shift?
