Q: Hi 5iR Team, I have been trying to compile a list of the top performing US ETF's. However, many people put various criteria in attempting to rank ETF's and in general others just disagree with one list vs another. So, could you give me the top 10 US ETF's based solely on 52 week change. What was the fund worth July 23/17 and what is it worth today. Thanks. Chris

Q: In the near future I will be making some TFSA investments. My understanding, from commentary I have heard, is that it is wise to not invest in US stocks as the US government withholds dividend payments inside such an investment vehicle.
However, my thinking is that this does not necessarily mean that buying US stocks inside a TFSA is an absolute no no as this negative should be balanced against the positives with a given US stock. If the company is a fast growing US tech stock, for example, that doesn't pay a dividend then the withholding of dividend income is a moot point. Please comment. Thanks very much.

Q: hi, what is your opinion of MSCI?
It has a very enviable ROE (90+%) and the Profitability Ratios (all taken from your site) look very respectable.
PE might be a little high.
The ROE is generally the starting point for me to be interested in a stock (right or wrong :)).
Would you consider them the leaders in their respective space/sector? It seems like it might be a stock for good times and bad times.
(I stumbled upon this from a recent BNN suggestion/recommendation).

Q: I am currently overweight in tech (now pushing 23%). I have just retired (with a generous defined benefit pension) and am trying to adopt a more conservative approach to investing. Given this new focus:
a) What would you suggest would be an appropriate weighting for tech?
b) Could you list the above-noted holdings in order of least to most risk?
c) Could you offer your thoughts with respect to which stock - or stocks - on this list represents the best balance of value and growth?

Q: I currently have MFI, PBH, ATD.B. I'm under weight in consumer non-cycl. I'm planning to add to PBH to bring it up to a 2% position. Could you recommend a US non-cycl. name you find interesting.

Q: Good Morning 5i,

Just wondering if these two stocks are still a hold or should be replaced?
Intel seems to be having problems with its 10mm process, insider trading and competition from Nvidia and AMD. As for Cisco a report last week claiming that Amazon Web Services plans to start selling network switches to other businesses and other major networking companies could impact Cisco down the road. Should we anticipate that though times are ahead for this network giant?

Q: I like credit cards. I hold Visa (6%) and Mastercard (5%) and I'm considering buying American Express but worry about too much concentration. It doesn't seem to move in tandem with the others, perhaps because of different models and being on different exchanges. What do you think? I have no banks, but do have a couple of insurance companies.
