Q: Hi Peter,

I have been following your model portfolio and have greatly benefited from it. Thanks so much for your great recommendations.

I would like to ask for your advice on some non-tech US stocks. The stocks are:

- Abbot (ABT)
- Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD)
- Celgene (CELG)
- Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG)
- Echo Global Logistics (ECHO)
- McCormick & Co (MKC)
- Restaurant Brand (QSR)
- Starbucks (SBUX)
- Yum Brand China (YUMC)
- Yum Brand (YUM)

Would you also be able to suggest some other US non-tech stock alternatives, as well as some small caps?

My investment time horizon is 15-20 years.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Q: Hi there. I have accumulated about 4K in cash in my TFSA that I am looking to place in either 1 or 2 growth options. This is would represent about 15% of portfolio. I'm 35 so risk tolerance is fine.

Currently have GUD, AQN, KXs, LNR, VEE, and FIRE

Would US exposure be a good plan given the current exchange rate and diversification?

Thanks

Q: Downgraded to a target price of $20.00. I watched my holding start to firm up about $32.20. I had to leave house and put in a trailing stop and was stopped out at $33.60. Employees at your place (the pros) how would they have handled it? Since you guys are more long term would they still own it or would they have got out at a higher price than me? I get a weekly newsletter and have been told know what you can afford to lose e.g. $500.00 on a $5,000.00 stock and get out when you are down $500.00. Thanks. Dennis

Q: I am holding Mosaic at a loss, and it represents well less than 1% of my portfolio. That being said, the business of agriculture is here to stay, and farmers need companies like Mosaic to provide them what they need to grow food. Is this company worth hanging on to, or is it time to move on? Should I sell, my first plan to reallocate this capital would be to increase my position in VLKAY: it is a small position that I would not mind increasing, as it would help my portfolio allocation. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your response.

Q: I bought WEC.us a couple of years ago, thinking of it as a bond proxy. WEC appreciated modestly in value this past year. I just looked at updated financial metrics and WEC struck me as expensive –but I am not sure.

Is WEC a good proxy for bonds? Should WEC be sold and a 'growthier' name bought? For this question ‘growthier’ mean to me means a security that is expected to have reasonably good dividend growth, consistent with industry, interest-rate and other risks.

If, in your opinion, there are other, better bond proxies, I would be thankful for your suggestions. US and ‘Europe ex-UK’ preferred but I am also open to Canadian names you care to suggest. (If you want, disregard tax aspects. The Cdn and US Governments own 60% of me; I finally accepted that resistance is futile.

Q: Hello 5i.

I have some cash and would like to add another US stock to my portfolio, and looking for a recommendation.

I currently own Enbridge (US market), Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, UnitedHealth Group AT&T and McDonald's.

Based on what I own, can you recommend 3 or 4 stocks which you think would be good for my portfolio?

Income is not necessary, but not a problem if it has a dividend. I am looking to invest in a well managed company, with good balance sheet, and good growth potential.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I own most of BE along with AAPL,GOOGL,DIS, TD, BEP.UN and a few others. Want to add 2 of the above soon. Which 2 would you recommend now?

Also, I would like to know your thoughts on PEG/PEGY ratios. Do you use them and if so, how?

Thanks, Greg
