Q: With the Canadian dollar on a bit of an upswing, I'm looking to add a bit more US exposure. Currently we have SQ, TEAM, MU and AYX as our "Growthier" US stocks. (Thank You!) We're wondering what your top US picks might be for being potential "up and coming" growth stocks that are maybe a bit under the radar.
Thank you

Q: Hi team,

I am watching WATCH. Cramer keeps coming up with new acronyms. I think he coined FANG several years ago. Cramer likes large cap consumer names with scale. So do I. I am looking for a new name in that sector to offset my large tech holdings. I already own a full Walmart position. While I like Amazon, I still view it as trading with tech sentiment, despite its classification, and I have more than enough tech. I am not sure it should be in this grouping, but I guess Cramer needed an A. I am considering Target, which I think is back on track after its foray into Canada a few years ago. I think I missed the big run in Costco. I don’t mind buying expensive tech stocks for growth, but I am more reluctant to overpay for consumer stocks. Lastly is Home Depot and it still looks relatively attractive to me here. What is your view on adding either Target or Home Depot for growth or are there other large cap consumer names that I should consider?

Thanks again.
Dave

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i! JNJ has been in the news quite a bit lately with the newest issue being a law suit for billions of dollars launched by the state of Oklahoma for JNJ’s role in the opioid crisis.
I hold a tidy number of stocks in this company , which I have held for years and I am up quite a bit on the stock. My objective is a long term hold....so my question....how serious is this law suit to the overall value of the company? Should the share value fall, would this be an opportunity to buy more? Or....should I take the money and run ? Looking for some crystal ball insight....Cheers, Tamara

Q: Sorry for bothering you about an American company but I stumped on this one . I have wanted to buy Macdonalds but when I check their revenue it has been slipping steady over the last five years (yahoo finance and bmo charts showing this) at the same time their net earnings have been climbing. Can't pull the trigger on a stock that has declining earnings but some analysts say their same store sales are increasing which does't equal overall revenue declining unless they are closing some stores. What am I missing? If you don't feel it is an appropriate question no problem.

Q: Blackline (BL) seems to share similarities with Lightspeed (LSPD) except that, instead of targeting restaurants and small retailers, it focuses on providing SAAS to accounting departments in small and medium-sized firms. Can you provide any insights on BL from your Bloomberg terminal or any other research that has been done on the company?

Q: In order to reduce Canadian content, increase US and International content and balance our equity portfolio by industry,I would appreciate your help.Since we have been drawing on our RIFs for a number of years (23) and plan to continue, most of the transactions will be in our TFSAs.
1)sell Telus and replace it with a similar US or International investment.Would you recommend doing this and could you suggest 2 or 3 replacements.
2)sell Power Financial and Alaris Royalty and replace them with similar non-Canadian investments.Could you suggest 2 or 3 financial investments.
I do not feel comfortable adding currency changes to the mix or any withholding tax on dividends, but I do not see any alternatives.
Once this is completed,I plan to work on our industry allocations.
Thanks in advance for you assistance.

Q: Hello Folks:
We have held Costco in our U.S. equity portfolio for several years (approx 3% of our portfolio). As It has done very well we are considering increasing our position a few percentage points. At it's current high value do you deem this a worthwhile bet. We will likely raise the money by reducing our position in Bank of America; we also hold a 5% position in J.P. Morgan. As long time Chevron investors we could alternately reduce this position for more Costco. Thanks for your fabulous service.
