Q: I have about 2% ish in AAPL and GOOG, how comfortable should I be to increase that % on those companies at these rates? Increase to maximum of 5%? Increase to a maximum of 8%? Increase to a maximal of 10%? AAPL and GOOG are long term holdings. Clayton
Q: I am having difficulty finding out about fees associated with CDRs. On the one hand I see the answer 'there are no fees'. On the other hand, I see this on CIBC's website: "The notional currency hedge includes a spread earned by CIBC which will on average not exceed 0.60% on an annualized basis." Is this 0.6% paid for by owners of the specific CDR? If so, is there a similar expense at every bank or brokerage through which one might buy a CDR? This would severely hurt the value of buying CDRs would it not? You are still taking all the equity specific risk, you would still be charged the withholding tax, and unlike an ETF, you are not gaining any diversification for your fees. Thank-you.
A while ago I asked about a non market weighted ETF that follows the S&P 500. You mentioned RSP. Is there one that follows the S&P 500 , but in Canadian dollars?
Q: Hello, Thank you for your answer to my question on adding to my rrsp stocks. Can I ask the same of my husband’s rrsp - in what order would you add new money to the listed 6 stocks?
Q: Long time subscriber. I know back in 2018, 2019 and 2020 this often came up on the questions recommendation lists. How does NVIDIA fare now? Is this still a growth story and is this a good entry point?
Q: Hi 5iResearch
What is your take on STAG, and does it have a good chance of recovery in the next 12-24 months?
Can you please recommend three or so stocks in the US real estate sector with a good dividend (3-5%) and a reasonable expected growth.
Thank you,
Q: What are your current thoughts on TEAM (Atlassian)? Do you see much upside for it this year if these market conditions continue and the fact that it is not profitable? Is it undervalued or overvalued at this point? Or do the long term potential benefits outweigh the current headwinds it is facing? Do you see it as a buy, hold or sell at this point? Held in a registered account so a small tax loss is not possible. Please suggest other options if you have higher conviction in other names (open to other sectors to continue diversification in a tech heavy portfolio).
Q: What is your opinion about investing in Mobileye?
The company was recently spun off from Intel (After having bee acquired in 2017). The company is expanding its ADAS portfolio, created a mapping power house, defined safety standards that are considered and adopted by regulators and has made significant progress in the technology and adoption fronts. It is marching towards more and more autonomous driving solution. Unlike TESLA, it is not fully vertically integrated (i.e. it licenses and sells to many car manufacturers).
How would you compare it to Tesla's autonomous car technology and market position? Which company would you prefer if one is interested in exposure to automobile autonomous driving?
(Please add MBLY to your database).
Thank you for your excellent servie!
Q: Please commend on these two Consumer Defensive US EFTs – XLP & IYK (iShares US Consumer Staples ETF). If one has to choose one for long term hold, 50/50 balance on growth and yield, which one would you recommend?
Thanks,
Roger
Q: Hi 5iresearch
I am in a loss position with the above stocks. They represent a very small size of my portfolio. Which ones would have a good chance for recovery in the next 12 months? I am trying to determine which ones I should sell to allocate to other shares with better chances. You can give %s for their recovery in the next 12 months.
Thank you
Q: The US dollar seems to be heading lower. You think this might continue for the year?
What is the overall consensus?
Te Mexican peso already strengthened 7% in the last couple of weeks.
How could we play this theme?
Are there any companies you suggest which would benefit from a lower dollar?
Any currencies you think that would have a good upside?
I currently hold the above stocks in my RRSP and have some $ to add. Given current valuations and future growth, could you please rank how you would add new money? Fairly aggressive investor with long time frame. Thank you,
Q: I own all of the above US Tech, except ROKU. I was interested in your answer yesterday regarding potential growth for ROKU, all things going well. Amoung these companies, is there anything you would sell to move into ROKU? I don't really want to put new money into more US Tech, but would rather find the right balance in the funds I already have there. Thanks!
