Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Financials are getting a lot of attention these days which I believe 5i believes is justified.
So I want to increase my weighting in this sector.

Question

Do you see more upside in USA banks and an etf like xlf over comparable Canadian holdings and/ or an etf like xfn ?

Is there a covered call etf for USAfinancials like ZWB for Canadian financials?

Thanks.

Q: Hello!

The last question on RPC Inc. was back on March 1 when it was trading at $6.45. Since then it has traded largely between $5 and $6 and is at $5.05 this morning.

Any change in your assessment of RPC Inc. since then? Oil (crude futures) has appreciated ~20% during the same period, for what that's worth.

Thanks as always,

Marc.

Q: Hi 5i Team - Would you be able to provide a summary of resources/materials needed in the semi-conductor space. Out of these are there any that would stand out as being particularly important. And finally are there any companies, Canadian or American, that have a good track record of providing any of these resources/materials.
Thanks.

Q: Hello 5i Team.

Thank you for all the insights into investing - it has been profitable both educationally and financially.

7% of our portfolio is in geared to health care with a holding of 5 stocks , GUD - (slightly underwater but is the hopeful flyer), Medtronic - MDT, Cardinal Health - CAH, Abbvie - ABBV, Johnson & Johnson- JNJ. In an effort to reduce the overall number of stocks in our TFSA, RRSP and taxable accounts I was considering liquidating CAH and JNJ and either purchasing more ABBV or adding SYK, unless of course you can recommend another US health care stock. JNJ and and CAH have been the laggards of the US group since my initial purchases. I realize MDT and SYK might be similar but i do believe surgeries should increase in 2022.

I enjoy reading your resources and recommend it often.

Q: I have farming friends who are telling me of a very serious drought not only in Canada but the US as well. I am wondering about holding this in my RRSP where I have a lot of US cash.I know you can't hold commodities there but this is an etf that holds commodities contracts. Because of that does this qualify as an eligible holding?

Q: Could you comment on stocks CA and US that would benefit from a major conflict between the US and either Iran or China?

Thank you

Q: Hello Team,

I have held BLK and MCO for about 1 1/2 years and my total returns as of now, are 83% and 77%, respectively. I have a feeling that the easy money has already been made on these 2 stocks and therefore should put my money on something else.
May I please have your comments on these companies going forward and your thoughts on what I plan on doing, would be appreciated.
Cheers,
H

Q: Noticed an interesting pop in solar stocks today. Any particular reason for this? Also, I’ve noticed that they have traded sideways for several months now. Would you rather trade or invest in this sector?

Q: Each of these names are now near or above 10% of my portfolio.
Your thought above trim them down all by half, reduce risk: keep some cash, buy some medical names: MDT/SYK ,other fang names: FB/GOOG, industrials: looking at Carrier/Trane/Raytheon.

Thanks you!
