Q: Do you feel the market is throwing out pitches that look attractive at this time? If so, what are a few of the growth-oriented names in Canada and the U.S you would be swinging for?

Q: Good morning.

I don’t know much about REITS and there are a lot of choices. Looking out 5-10 years, what do you feel are the best areas to focus on and what would be 2 or 3 Canadian REITS you like best and which one would you choose for a long term hold and why?

If there is a US REIT you like or even prefer, please include.

Also, If there is a primer you could suggest or a previous blog post please link.

Thanks, M

Q: I own shares in these 3 companies and am thinking of adding to one or all of them. Weightings are all still relatively modest. What do think of these stocks, is this a good time to add, and would you suggest adding to one, two or all. If not all, in which one or two would you prefer? With thanks, Don

Q: Hi Guys
I hold a large amount of U.S. stocks, my concern is i have been paying a high exchange rate over the last 4 years purchasing them. If the U.S. dollar falls 20% over the next 5 years or so I'm going to take a substantial haircut on my overall returns if i sell and move the cash proceeds to the CDN side of my Portfolio.
I guess the answer to my question is don't sell them, they all have a great record of dividend increases over the years, and they are in the U.S. side of my non registered Portfolio.
My other thought was to use GLD as a hedge, my thinking is a falling U.S. dollar would increase the value of Gold owned in a U.S. Portfolio
Thanks

Q: Hi,
In your recent blog on 5 investing principles, you say it is important to distinguish between permanent and temporary market losses. However, you do not say how to do that. DOCU, PTON and NFLX all did great in the pandemic. All are floundering now. So, do you view the market losses in DOCU, PTON and NFLX as permanent or temporary and why?
Thanks.

Q: Are there any compelling reasons NOT to buy META at these prices (under ~$160 USD) for a long term investor? Very profitable, ~11x PE, ~7x cash flow. It is the same price as 5 years ago but the company has doubled revenues and profits since then. They are spending a lot on metaverse development and AI but Zuckerberg has always sailed the ship in the right direction. Huge user numbers and WhatsApp is barely monetized. It feels like all the bad news is baked into the price today (revenue decline of 1%, Sandberg leaving, metaverse capex). They are also buying back about 1% of the company per quarter at this valuation.

Q: Morning 5i team, thanks for all the great advice you supply to the members.
I have $50K to invest and would like your advice. This is what I’m currently holding in my non registered account.

Canada
AC, BYD, GSY, LSPD, SHOP, TDB3098, TOI
US
AAPL, SQ, CRWD, CSX, ETSY, MA, MSFT, NVDA, PYPL, UXI, ROBO, U

Considering my high exposure to Tech and your last market update, I might need to consider more consumer cyclical and financial stocks as well as others to balance the portfolio. I’m looking to have a mix of growth and value holdings.

I would appreciate your recommendations on new Canadian or US acquisitions and possible entry points. Can you recommend one of two of the US Tech stocks to sell and replace it with GOOG.

Please take as many credits a you see fit.

Thanks
Joe

Q: Hi Team,
With many high growth tech names down 50,60,70% over the last year, the question comes up …are these ever going to recover ? That being said , I think some will. Some will end up being the “buy” of the decade. And some probably not. My question is which 3 names would you bet on today to buy, which might end up being the “buy of the decade” in a few years from now? Thanks !
