Q: I have recently taken a small position in HHC (howard hughes company), as well as selling some out of the money puts (Oct140s, jan 130s). The more I read about this one, the more I like it. No dividend, but bought 6 prime properties around US, some at very distressed prices during the 2008/9 real estate crash. Debt ratio seems excellent as well as development opportunities on their properties. I would appreciate your view on this one, both pros and cons.

Q: May I please have your views on MHG.US? It seems to have a remarkably high dividend! Looks like It may be a good investment for growth and dividend? Super service!
Q: Hello team, my question is about Mastercard. Last year after reading in the Toronto newspaper how dominant MA is and is going to be - with the world carrying less cash for small purchase needs - and seeing the stock ramping up consistently, I purchased a significant amount of the stock. In very short order the stock had a 10-1 stock split and i was hopeful that it would continue to increase. From over $800 (split to over $80) per share its dropped and floundered in the mid $70.00's. I compare the MA results to my Canadian funds and realize I would have been much better off keeping with my home grown stocks. For added perspective, I'm 55, doing well financially, I own my property, have a very small debt. I hope to retire comfortably within a year. My goal is to achieve 10% annual earnings on my portfolio once I retire. At this time, between my business and my stocks i am heading towards the $2.5 and $3 million dollar mark in my investments. Currently MA is 6.6% of my portfolio. My stock portfolio and rrsp's is my future, I have no pension. I live alone and have no other secondary source of funding or financial responsibility.
What are your thoughts on MA as part of my portfolio overall and with your learned crystal ball - what is your opinion of the stock - say over the next year.
Many thanks, Dave

Q: Peter, with the improved Cdn $ here, would it be a good time to pick up some additional US positions ? In particular could you give an opinion on Berkshire. Thank you for this and all the great guidance you have provided. I look at the value here and my returns with you, and I cringe at the years I spent with the full service investment outfit I was with. Thank you !!
Q: Could you recommend a couple of high quality Canadian companies with US exposure that might substitute for holding US companies? I own Stantec, TD, and CN, all of which I think quality as having at least some exposure. Thank you.
Q: Hi,
I am trying to find a way to capitalize on the mobile space as there is a lot of research out there this is a growing area as people start to use more smartphones. I have come across a London based company call Monitise (MONIF on the OTC). Although its on the pink sheets it’s a 1.8 Billion market cap company. Both Visa and Mastercard hold a chunk of shares. I am looking to get your thoughts on this company, or preferably one that is listed in Canada that I might have overlooked?
Thanks!

Q: Good morning 5i team,
I know that your main focus is on canadian stocks, but i see that you have graciously responded to questions on american socks as well, which encourages me to ask the following question:
We read that it is often good to add american stocks to a canadian portfolio because of the concentration of the tsx in certain sectors. If you were to balance out your income port along these lines, what american sectors would you choose, and if it is not asking too much, what companies would you choose in these sectors?
Thanks

Q: What are your thoughts on rden (Elizabeth Arden), almost 20% drop today! a good time to buy?
Q: I own VOD.us for some time . From the past few months stock has dropped a great deal. Should I hold on to it or sell it. What are the future prospects. It pays over 5% dividend
Thank you
Thank you
Q: Hello 5i,
First of all, peter, sorry to hear about your biking accident. Hope you are doing ok. My major holding in the hralth care sector isPfizer, on which i have a good profit, and in an rrsp, so no worries about capital gains tax. I have noticed that you like jnj a lot. I have been thinkig of switching from pfizer into jnj, mainly because jnj seems like a safer bet, since it is almost, you might say, a conglomerate. The rest of my portfolio is fairly balanced, so this decision only affects these stocks and this sector. I was wondering what your thoughts are on this idea?
Thanks
