Q: Hi. This rights issue was described in basic form, but there seems to be a much more complex/interesting issue. These debentures, if I exercise the rights, offer a tremendous hedge against inflation, as their yield is tied to the rate of change of inflation. What seems like the deal-breaker is the 33% premium I (would) have to pay to buy the Debentures.
It seems to me odd that I am asked to pay a 33% premium to earn less than 6.5% if inflation rates go down over time. This does not seem like a very tax-efficient strategy for taxable dividends. It just seems like a very unique product and pricing. Can you comment on those particular aspects please? I am interested in earning more income soon, and there is some appeal to this as a hedge against inflation, but the price of that insurance seems too high...?
I received the following offer:
Option 1: Exercise – 3.03 Rights will be required to subscribe for $100 CAD principal amount of unsecured
subordinated floating rate debentures, Series 1, due March 31, 2040 of Constellation Software Incorporated
(CSU.DB (TSX)) (21037XAA8) at a Subscription price of $133.217 CAD per $100 CAD principal amount
of Series 1 Debentures. Please specify the number of Rights you wish to exercise.
The Series 1 Debentures will be issuable only in denominations of $100 CAD and integral multiples thereof.
By reading this, it seems it’s not a valuable buy, spend $133.217 to buy $100 denominated debenture due March 31, 2040. I am not sure if I understand it right. Could you please help me to understand it? Thanks.
Q: Hello, can you provide your opinion of this company and do you like their latest numbers, do you see good growth potential and some trend ? Since going public they have made 2 acquisitions that seems to integrate well. Thank you
Q: What do you make of the trading pattern in SYZ? It is well off its lows and seems to be holding up well in a $7.7-7.9 trading range for the past month. It consistently traded above $10 for many years prior to 2021 and, as far as I can tell, its business prospects in the enterprise software space are the same or better. Can you comment on its future growth and likelihood of getting back to its old highs? I know the dividend cut disappointed the market, but should not the former dividend payment now be reflected in better future growth in the stock price? If the stock price doesn't get back to old highs, what are the prospects of a software consolidator like CSU, OTEX or ENGH taking them out?
If I was to sell some csu stocks do the warants stay with the stock or do they remain in my account or can they be transferred to a tfsa if they are in a riff account?
Q: Can I please get your thoughts on the recent press release?
Vecima Networks Inc. (the "Company" or "Vecima") (TSX: VCM) today announced that it has entered into a warrant agreement with Charter Communications Holding Company, LLC ("Charter").
The warrants issued as part of the agreement provide Charter with the opportunity to purchase an aggregate of up to 361,050 common shares in the capital of Vecima at an exercise price equal to C$17.09 per warrant (the "Warrants") until January 1, 2031. The Warrants are subject to vesting conditions based on the achievement of significant multi-year spending targets by Charter.
Q: Regarding Peter's great question on Telesat and MDA, I too have been looking further into these companies and did not see a response regarding Lightspeed and potential revenue. All I have found so far is:
"Telesat Lightspeed has the potential to transform global satellite and terrestrial communications industries, dramatically increasing the Company’s addressable market from approximately US$18 billion to approximately US$365 billion and significantly expanding its growth potential."
** from the companies Prospectus November 16 2021
and from https://spacenews.com/telesats-leo-constellation-fully-funded-after-manufacturer-switch/
"Telesat is targeting a 30% return on investment from Lightspeed, which is seeking a slice of an enterprise and government connectivity market the company estimates would be worth about 200 billion dollars around 2025."
"Telesat expects the total cost for 156 satellites to be around $3.5 billion, when factoring in launches and other expenses, including the ground systems and user terminal technology that would also be used for the 42 follow-on satellites."
Q: Wondering whether you/we as a DYI, can find out if there any acquisitions going on in the above or any companies really during any quarter or do you have to wait until the next quarterly or possibly annual report?
Thanks
Jeff
Q: I am considering the above companies. Are there any that you would not purchase at this time. Would you kindly order them in terms of quality and potential growth.
Q: Hi 5i,
Thanks for the great work. Can I ask your opinion on Tiny in the small cap space (https://www.tiny.com/)? Recently I've seen a number of articles highlighting the business as a Warren Buffet/Berkshire approach for 2023 with a focus on tech and software.
Q: What do you think of SPOT? I own some and thinking about selling due to their low margins, thoughts? I do love the product and is an extremely sticky product once people are a user.
