Q: Hi
I would like to initiate a 3 or 4% position (depending on risk) in a company in the Info Tech sector that would complement my other holdings. I currently have CSU and ESL in Info Tech at 4% each. I also have a diversified portfolio of other Canadian equities (ie. Financial 12% (BNS, SLF, HCG) Cons Disc 12% (AYA, DOL, DHX.B) and so on)
My main focus is growth over the long term. Could you make a suggestion?
Thank you and happy holidays
Q: Hi, Thank you kindly for the service. I am just wondering about your thoughts on Sensio (SIO) and the impending rollout of 3DGO technology on LG TV's? Cam
In the context of a diversified portfolio, with high risk tolerance, could you compare the following stocks in terms of growth prospects over the next two years?
1 - MacDonald Dettwiler & COM DEV
2 - WEF and HBM
3 - ESP, EXO and SVC
I want to increase the tech sector portion of my kids resp which is currently nil. Would you suggest a tech etf ZQQ/QQQ (hedged or unhedged)or a couple of individual Canadian tech stocks? Total about 6k in a 50k rrsp. Minimum 3 yr. timeline.
Q: In August of this year, you noted that although Celestica was a good company, it was also a "business... that ... is more of a 'later cycle' business, meaning it does better as the economy really gets going."
Would you consider the economy having picked up enough for this company to be a good buy at this time? (I already own Enghouse, Sylogist, Avigilon and Apple in Technology, each with a 4% weighting, except for AVO which is at 2.5%)
I am doing some year-end cleaning up of deadwood, and re-allocating some funds to a few companies with more growth. (Mind you, I'm thinking of taking AVO behind the barn and shooting it, to offer an old farmer's almanac analogy.)
Q: Maxim Integrated ( MXIM.us) :
I have a small position in MXIM. Some shares were left over 9 years ago from a sell order that was only filled partially. The holding represents just 0.25% of the portfolio. I suppose I should therefore either sell MXIM , or buy more. I could also leave well enough alone.
I would appreciate your thoughts whenever you have time.
Thank you. Best wishes
Adam

Q: I am mystified by the "buy" rating accorded this stock by several respectable stock rating services. Does your perception of their data give you a similar perception?
Q: Hi, I've asked about RFMD before and you liked it. I've noticed that there's been a lot of insider selling. Do you think there's anything to be concerned about? I bot a little at 14.21 w/intention to add and hold for 1-2 yrs. Would you add at this time.....it's down 3.29% as I write.
Thanks a lot!
Q: Hi Folks. i am looking to add some Canadian technology. Could you tell me your favorite large cap and favorite mid cap. I'm looking at GIB.A and DSG, but I'm open to your suggestions. I already have full positions in CSU and ESL.
Do you have a few biometric companies you like for growth in the sector? After reading this article, I would like to keep my eye on a few with some good potential. Cdn or US stock, either will do. Thanks for the excellent service. Gerald
Q: As far as I can determine, Slyce (V.SLC) is the only visual search pure play in which one can invest. As a public company it can raise funds to develop further and really extend its lead on the competition and become the 'go to' player in that industry niche.
Looking thru SEDI and recent news releases, I calculate the holdings of management, officers and directors at 7.2m shares - this includes the shares given to owners of the two recent acquisitions, BuyCode and Drivetrain. There are also three entities deemed insiders which own a total of 11.2m shares - i.e. BIG, BBG and Salida.
This brings total insider holdings to 18.4m shares out of 106.2 issued, or 17.2%
Q: Hello 5i,
I'd like to get your take on Sandvine Corp. Their technoloigy is intriging and I could see sector growing in the future. Last quarter was weak but it seemed to be more related to contract timing and they have since signed a few new deals, and they've got a ton of cash on the balance sheet. Is this stock a good buy right now for 1-2 year time frame?
