Q: I am curious about the parameters of "cyclicality" when it comes to different sectors. For example, the chip stocks (including AMAT) are apparently down because of a cyclical decline across them all. In this industry, how long does such a cycle typically run? In comparison, for example, to the commodities cyclicality, which can be many years (I have heard 10-15). Your answer will help me decide whether to take a tax loss on AMAT or hold on for a year or two. Thanks!
Q: Hello Folks:
I own LLL and with technology companies facing current headwinds, what is your feeling of the long term future for this defense stock.
At 15 billion cap it certainly isn’t in league with big players, however I like it’s three core product lines.
Your opinion is most appreciated.

Q: If you believe (do you?) that this correction is largely over and you wanted to put more money in the market.
At this point in time, which 6 stocks in the US and which 6 stocks in Canada to you think have the most upside with the help of the recent sell off?

Q: I currently hold a position in Maxim Integrated. Based on recent performance I am thinking of switching my position with Xilinx. Xilinx has also outperformed my position in the BOTZ ETF. Do you think Xilinx is a strong buy ?
Q: Which one of these two would you buy today for growth with a one year time frame. Thanks
Q: Hi 5i,
FTG has had 2 good quarterly releases in a row now. Your last reply to a question re FTG (Oct 9) was just before they released Q3 numbers (Oct 10) (normally a quiet quarter).
Is there anything in their Q3 results to get excited about?
It looks like their transition activities for their last acquisition(s) is finally starting to contribute nicely.
Given the caveat that it is small cap, should one continue to watch this company (in this volatile market) or could one step in for a 1/3 position over the next 30-60 days (considering tax loss seasonality) given the lows of the stock price (down 38% YTD)?
There didn't seem to be much market reaction to the Q3 numbers but that could have been due to the market volatility ....or it simply went unnoticed.
Cheers,
Steve

Q: Can you let me know what you think about OTEX quarterly earnings and as a long-term holding. Looks like low on revenue but a beat on EBITDA and EPS. Plus a $310M cash acquisition. Aftermarket down over 7% (of course)... is this an over-reaction in your opinion?

Q: Hi team,
Just how big is this cloud anyway? Since IBM announced its purchase of Red Hat, it seems every tech stock and their brother claim to be a cloud company. I got several Seeking Alpha emails identifying about 20 or more companies that are now M&A candidates in the cloud. There are too many to list here, but two companies that I follow stood out to me; one that was there and one that was conspicuous by its absence.
I have been following DOCU for awhile. It was on the list. It seems it has a unique electronic signature software/platform that resides on the cloud and that would be an attractive functionality for bigger companies in the future for document authorization. The one that was absent from the list was BOX. I had been in that stock earlier the year but lost interest after erratic earnings. It looks like the risk/reward may be attractive here, but I just don’t see any real competitive advantage that it holds over many other cloud candidates. Earlier this year, you suggested that MSFT could potentially be interested. What sets BOX apart from many other cloud companies and is the outlook for DOCU and/or BOX enhanced or not by the IBM deal?
Thanks again for your thoughts,
dave

Q: Thx. for the quick response.....my son owns it...has a 50% gain....would you recommend to hold, add or sell based on your response "The drop has likely now accounted for the weaker result". You've liked it until recently and even suggested as a good company.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Seems that National Instruments (Nati on Nasdaq) does not show up in the company query. Recently, the company share price jumped. Realizing this company is US, could you take a look and see if there is anything that is the source of the rise.
Q: If Apple's earnings are down after reporting on Nov. 1st, will the market follow the fall of FAANG stocks? Would you continue investing in FAANG or start looking at other tech companies? If so, which would you recommend and what would be some good opportunity's if we see a slight crash in market?
Thank you,
Thank you,
Q: could you comment on the result of CGNX is it a good buy at this level
