Q: Hi Folks. i am looking to add some Canadian technology. Could you tell me your favorite large cap and favorite mid cap. I'm looking at GIB.A and DSG, but I'm open to your suggestions. I already have full positions in CSU and ESL.

Q: Hello 5i,

Do you have a few biometric companies you like for growth in the sector? After reading this article, I would like to keep my eye on a few with some good potential. Cdn or US stock, either will do. Thanks for the excellent service. Gerald

Q: As far as I can determine, Slyce (V.SLC) is the only visual search pure play in which one can invest. As a public company it can raise funds to develop further and really extend its lead on the competition and become the 'go to' player in that industry niche.

Looking thru SEDI and recent news releases, I calculate the holdings of management, officers and directors at 7.2m shares - this includes the shares given to owners of the two recent acquisitions, BuyCode and Drivetrain. There are also three entities deemed insiders which own a total of 11.2m shares - i.e. BIG, BBG and Salida.

This brings total insider holdings to 18.4m shares out of 106.2 issued, or 17.2%

Q: Hello 5i,
I'd like to get your take on Sandvine Corp. Their technoloigy is intriging and I could see sector growing in the future. Last quarter was weak but it seemed to be more related to contract timing and they have since signed a few new deals, and they've got a ton of cash on the balance sheet. Is this stock a good buy right now for 1-2 year time frame?

Q: I'd like to add a Cdn and US tech growth company for a 3-5 year time frame. I own ESL and SYZ. How would you rank OTC, MDA, DSG, CSU, MNW, and ET in terms of potential return? In my US portfolio I own QCOM and GOOG. Other than MU, which you have mentioned before, can you recommend 1-2 other US growth names?

Q: Could you please interpret the comments made on the recent results release. It sounds as though there will be little improvement in the share price over the next year, if I am understanding their comments correctly ? If so, it would seem to make sense to sell my shares (1.5% of a diversified portfolio) now and re-invest in something with more potential for growth in the coming year. Is there another company in this sector that you would recommend ?

Q: Good Morning
Considering buy AVO if tax loss selling kicks in. What time frame would you suggest tax loss selling will have an effect? Not sure if you offer this advice - but any thoughts on where SP will settle during tax loss.

Q: Hi, Further to my question on 20 Nov., would you pls. clarify this: "TriQuint shareholders will receive 1.675 shares of Qorvo and RFMD shareholders will receive 1 share of Qorvo for each TriQuint or RFMD share held. At the closing of the transaction, the Company will execute a one-for-four reverse stock split."
RFMD holders will receive i share of QRVO, right? Will holders of TQNT receive 1.675 shares of QRVO or only 1 share of QRVO? Also, what's the implication of the reverse split?
Thank you!

Q: I just re-read Ryan's excellent article highlighting stocks flying under the radar.

I believe that SYZ was one of Peter's picks 2-3 years ago for one of the many stock picking contests he has won. SYZ has gone from under $3 to $12 - and still has zero analyst coverage. I would think that kind of performance puts it into a very special category. Is the lack of coverage incompetence on the part of the analysts and their managers who run the funds, or is there something intrinsic about SYZ that keeps them away?

Thanks to you I am a well rewarded owner of SYZ, but still find the lack of coverage intriguing; but would expect this to change with even more of a share price increase in the future and am looking to add to it.

Would you concur?

Thanks - on many levels for your service.

Q: good morning 5i team,

yesterday it was announced RKN received an order from a national corp in the Asia Pacific worth $13 mill. And your reply to my query yesterday re recent results was luke warm but had some encouraging aspects.

On Sept 15 you answered my question with "RKN has potential but has so far been a bit of a disappointment."... "We would consider holding on for one more quarter to see if things look like they will improve and then consider moving on."

As we stand today @ 4.08 with a bit of an upward trend in place, I am under water a little over 15% on a small position.

Everything considered, would you say 1) things have improved 2) it's time to move on or 3) looks like things are/may be improving and to hold on for another quarter.

As always, appreciate everything you do

Gord

Q: I held this stock and then got nervous about losses, or potential losses and sold it during a choppy period at $48.35 and now it's $62.94. I wouldn't mind making another investment in US Technology stocks, so should I go back to RHT or look for something else?
I guess I need to build up my fortitude for those choppy periods!
