Q: When answering Scott's question about the lightspeed IPO you said Shopify is 10X sales. On the 5i's website under companies it says SHOP is 55X sales and on Yahoo finance it says 25X sales on the TSX and 19X in the US.

Can you tell me where these discrepancies come from? It makes it difficult to compare companies. Is it best just to do the math yourself?

Thanks.

Q: Hi team,

As you know from my questions, I like tech and am a growth investor. I do own some lower beta non-tech stocks as a counter-balance; I just don’t ask a lot of questions on them. The cloud is working these days, with a few normal hiccups. I follow a ton of stocks in the space, so I will ask about five (down from ten) that were bid very high going into earnings, that is, TEAM, TTD, SPLK, AYX, WDAY. Earnings and guidance, as far as I can recall were great, yet the stocks sold off. I attribute it to normal profit taking after big run-ups. I own TTD and TEAM. I owned WDAY in the past, but sold it prematurely. I am a bit shocked and impressed today how AYX shot up about 5% when the market had an awful day. I could see no news on that on the websites I check. Any reason for that? How would you rank these five for growth prospects over the next several years and are there any red flags or undue risks for any so that you would avoid that company?

Thanks again,
Dave

Q: I have been contributing to my TFSA since inception and I currently have $90,000. I just put in $6000 as my 2019 contribution and I'm wondering what stocks I should look at. I'm 27 years old, have a long term time horizon, and I'm very comfortable with a lot of risk. Looking mainly for growth at this point. I currently have 30% of my account in the following (wxm, iwo, xsu, tdb3055 and RBF1035) (pretty well equal amounts). In addition I hold T, rY, BNS, JE, Enb, dol, ala, cjr, and fts all set up in Drips in roughly equal amounts. I also hold about 10% of my tfsa in ABM, EDT, loto and GQ for risky plays, all of which are down 50% except abm which is up 50%. what do you suggest adding at this point? Thanks so much!

Q: Hi, wrt the recent earnings question on DSG, was your answer for Q4 or full year?
(Brian did not ask for which reporting period, so I will. :))

I ask as your answer seemed out of line wrt their 3Q numbers...ie Earnings per share on a diluted basis of $0.10, up 25% from $0.08 in Q3FY18 and compared to $0.11 in Q2FY19 (from their Q3 release).
You indicated EPS=.32 (that's a huge increase from .10!)

Your reply also differed quite a bit from their stated Q4 and full year earnings release of the prior year.
To clarify, can you please give earnings estimates for both Q4 and full year .

Cheers,
Steve

Q: Hi folks at 5i,
My current holdings are as follows in three different accounts, (tsfa, rrsp, lira)
VTI 14.52%
VEU 8.73%,
VCE 5.85%
SHOP 5.54%,
CSU 5.11%
CYBR.B 4.73%,
OTEX 4.50%
XEG 4.47%
SIS 4.03%
SPOT 3.72%
FLT 3.71%
T 3.66%
GUD 3.46%
KXS 3.24%
DOL 2.97%
BCI 2.51%
PHO 1.78%
Fixed Income:
VSB 4.73%
XCB 4.50%
XHY 4.33%
Cash 3.58

1- I am planning on selling FLT (per your recommendation) from a previous question. Which stock would you purchase from the growth portfolio to put the cash right back at work?
2- Thinking of also selling T and adding some to VCE and the rest to buy another name from the growth portfolio. Would you be comfortable with this? Seeing that the bulk of my portfolio are in large blended ETF's. If so, which name would you buy?
3- Debating if I should keep SPOT. Initial bought it for a 5 year hold. What are your thoughts on selling and adding to VTI or maybe buy a low volatility US ETF? Or any other thoughts?
Please deduct as many credits needed. I have plenty to spare :)

Thank you

Q: Any particular reason for the large sell off today, particularly with tech stocks? I thought things were looking fairly good in the morning and with the news with China.

Q: At the present time I have a full position in Kinaxis, Constellation Software, and Shopify.
All 3 are in a non registered account. CSU and SHOP have done very well but KXS has been falling over the past year and I was wondering about selling it and buying one of the other 4 that I have listed. I am looking only at growth over the next one to two year time period. My risk tolerance is moderate to high. Which one would you suggest and why. Or would you just stay with Kinasix. Please deduct as many credits as you see fit. Thank you, Ian
