Q: Lots of talk about China taking over Taiwan. Maybe something happens, maybe not. How would a disruption in Taiwan Semiconductor production/supply impact NVDA in the short to intermediate term? Should the market be pricing in this risk in your opinion?
Q: Hi, These stocks have been on a tear recently, specially NVEI, and the guess is, with no specific news. The momentum has simply been Amazing !!! We have no immediate plans to add to or 5-6% position in each. But if we do, does it make sense ? Would you wait for share prices to settle and what would be a decent buy price for each ? Also could you prioritize them in order of current valuation vs growth prospects. Thank You
Q: I was looking at a list of your past picks that haven't been mentioned for awhile but they seem to be doing quite well. In fact, they have as good a track record as some of the US stocks you mentioned recently. Mastercard which I own is under water over the past year, I am thinking of selling it and the above 2 look like good replacements. Preferably, ZS. Do you still pay attention to these 2?
Q: Over the last couple of months a lot of Canadian tech stocks have seen huge gains in a very short time.
CSU from $1,730 to $2,130
DCBO from $65 to $104;
DSG from $70 to $97;
KXS from $135 to $199;
LSPD from $85 to $131;
MAGT from $26 to $55;
NVEI from $100 to $161;
TOI from $80 to $125.
1) Do you think this is getting overdone and are we due for some kind of correction in this sector?
2) Are any of the above still good buys after these large, rapid price increases?
3) Are there any Canadian tech stocks that have "missed the party" so to speak, haven't seen large rapid price increases like those above, and are good buys currently?
Q: Would welcome your interpretation of the recent Quarterly Results reported from Roblox, and your opinion on the merits of holding a position in the stock as part of a technology growth-oriented portfolio, or identification of any peers that may offer a better risk/return for a 5-year hold. Thanks as always to you and your staff.
Q: If you recall US based Lantronix is the Company that bought TSX listed Intrinsyc Technologies last year for which shares were issued to Intrinsyc shareholders. LTRX reported Q4 results today and provided a very strong outlook. What is 5i thoughts about continuing to hold these shares?
Q: I am overweight in tech by about 10% in my portfolio and I should sell some positions to increase my exposure in other sectors. What is your conviction in order of preference on APPL, CSU, NVDA, OTEX, TTD and TOI if I need to sell some portions or all of any of these holdings?
Q: Hi there,
I have been enjoying the run up in TOI and have been thinking of adding to my quarter position. I have been adding along the way and have a dollar cost average of about 93 bucks a share. I am debating whether I should add here, raising the per share cost - but it seems like a parabolic jump in price. Alternatively, I wonder whether I should wait for a dip. And if I do so, what is a fair value to buy at? It seems like TOI may go the way of CSU or SHOP longer term and I do have a window of about 5-10 years. For what it is worth, I still regret not buying shop at about two hundred dollars because I thought it was overvalued.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.
Q: Retired I am a growth inclined investor. I have AAPL and PYPL in my taxable account for over a year and have bought and sold AAPL twice in the past 5 years. AAPL has been very good to me. The current evaluation I find is expensive. There would be a tax impact but I have no other choice but to sell either PYPL or AAPL to make room for APPS. Would you make the switch or not and if so, which security would you sell?
Q: Would appreciate your overall assessment of CloudMD (DOC) financial results for the 2nd Quarter that were released after the close today. Do you expect the share price will get a bounce. Thanks
I have both tech stocks and now both have similar price. If I want to invest more for the current moment, which one have better potential for the long term.
Many thanks and please kindly advise.
Q: I currently have a 25% Tech allocation with the following stocks : OTEX, KXS, CSU, LSPD, REAL, TOI and MAGT. I am confortable with a little overweight in Tech since lots of growing quality companies are in the sector.
Reading your answer I understand you also have other favorites within the sector : SHOP, NVEI, DSG, etc..
I feel my list of canadian Tech companies (I don't bother buying US stocks, I just buy VUN...) is well balanced but I'd like to know if you would make any change, addition, substraction? Are SHOP and/or NVEI exceptional enough to consider increasing my overweight in Tech?
