Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: They issued their first q results as a public company. The dividend was set at 92 cents (23 cents per q)(5.8% yield) for the year.I believe they beat on EBITDA and earnings. Very little debt. The stock seems undervalued and looks like a nice long-term hold. It is only covered by 2 brokers, but more were on the conference call.
Your thoughts please.

Q: Is MAXQ still the proverbial lottery ticket? Up from 4 cents to 22.5 cents but won’t take much bad news to return to its starting point. Is MDA buying shares and is there a business launching satellites from Cape Breton? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. Oh I don’t think MAXQ appears to be in your data base

If we get a correct in the market would you have concerns with the above stocks. Would they still be a long term hold?

Q: Hello Team,

As part of my Small Cap Portfolio I own KSI, VHI, WELL which have traded sideways for a while. I also own PNG, ZDC and ZOMD which have done very well over the last few months (thanks!).

Would you continue to hold all 6, do you see any other small cap companies I should/could move into? (Was looking at GRID, FTG or any other small caps you like)

In total, this 6 stocks are 13% of my total portfolio.

Thanks again.

Q: hello 5i:
Recently, I asked the following question and you answered:

Q: hello 5i:
knowing you've been a fan of this company, from reading questions, can you comment on the fact that analyst earnings expectations have dropped from .23 (to year end 2025), 6 months ago, to currently .12. Has this changed your view of VHI?
thanks

5i Research Answer:

According to Bloomberg, adjusted EPS goes from 12c estimated this year to 31c estimated in 2026. With $94M in cash and cash flow growing, we remain comfortable with the stock.

Perhaps I should have been a bit more specific. I could see their projected earnings via Fastgraphs, but...................VHI has, shall we say, a not stellar (dismal?) record of meeting or beating earnings. So what are projections really worth? As earnings have been revised downward so much in the last 6 months, what suggests they won't be revised downward at the same rate? If you have confidence that earnings will not be revised downward, you must know something. Could you share that something?
thanks
Paul L
