Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Good morning: I have done quite well with BUS over the past year yet after the last earnings report, e shares have dipped. My thinking is that with the huge order backlog of ~$100 Million, a manufacturing assembly contractor in the USA, it being a potential takeout candidate, I should continue to hold. Would you have an opinion? (I also have a half position in NFI.) Thanks for your excellent advisories.

Q: Any insight or info on the ICC sell-off the last several trading sessions? Over a week removed from earnings release so would have expected to see that last week.
I know you're not huge fans of the sector and even less so on an Uruguay play but any intel would be appreciated. I do find it a more interesting option than the oversaturated Canadian players.

Q: hello 5i:
I am normally a fairly risk averse investor. Butttttt, knowing that the key person is probably the most important ingredient in a company, and assuming the company has a product that is still relevant (we'll rule out typewriters and horse drawn buggies), I am more than willing to have a small part of our portfolio in a growth company with good earnings potential. ie, we are invested in GUD, primarily because of Jonathan Goodman.
Recently, I've read about a company called Synergy CHC, run by a man called Jack Ross. Mr Ross is a very major shareholder in SNYR. And Knight (GUD) has invested in SNYR, something I see as a vote of confidence from Mr Goodman.
Knowing its not your forte, but trying to do my due diligence, can I ask you to comment on this company? I would try to establish a position at $XXX as it seems to be a thin trader, and fairly volatile. But I can't access this name on Stockcharts, so am a little constrained with TA. And there is not much information, in general, available.
Any advice you can give is beneficial
note that you can publish all of this question, EXCEPT FOR the part about my (hopeful) offer price.

Q: Hi;

CQE continues to lanquish. It has an FFO of $0.03 per share and production is up 8%. My understanding is that it is performing well and has a high level of inside ownership. Who are the "insiders" on this and what is your opinion of them? I am down almost 70% and I am looking to either triple down with another $4,000 investment or take my loss. What is your opinion?

Q: Hello Peter, I've been watching CLCT for a few months now, since it was mentioned in one of your responses. It has a dividend over 6% and is 9% cheaper today than yesterday after factoring in the currency move. While I'm tempted to buy, I'm not clear on what the 'China' component of its business entails - and also have some doubts as to how much an American company can count on being dealt with 'fairly', long-term, when doing business in China. Can you please explain the importance of China to CLCT's business, and whether you see the China political/trade risk as a meaningful concern for this particular company. Thank you!
