Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: CAR.UN seems to be struggling. I hold it in an unregistered account at a loss position. I also hold DIR.UN. Am thinking of selling CAR.UN, waiting 30 days and then re-buying or just adding the sale funds to increase DIR.UN. Don't hold any other REITs in my cash account, but have other REITs in RSP account. I am thinking that CAR.UN will need some time to recover and that it will be very slow over time. Do you agree? Would you wait longer to rebuy?
Question 2 is regarding DOCU. Would you consider it still a buy at current levels for a 5 year + hold.
Thanks for your input.

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

The above 4 REITS are part of my REIT basket in addition to other industrial and apartment REITS.

All are down a lot . Please hit me with sufficient credits to rank them best to worst in terms of prospects for capital appreciation on a risk reward basis considering various valuation metrics as well as the future as you see it.

Please indicate any clear winners or losers in the rankings

Thanks for all you do

Q: About 3 months ago you provided a report on IPP.UN. By all accounts things looked favourable and it appealed to me thinking it was defensive but since then it has decreased about 15%. I recall a comment from you since then, suggesting the Gov't bringing in rent controls had a negative impact. Where do you see things going for IPP.Un from here?
I also have BIP.UN. Do you see it as defensive?
If I want to raise some cash, which would be better to keep? Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: I just read the presentation from Sandpiper laying out their reasons for immediate change at Artis - lack of management/board ownership but at the same time excessive compensation, too much familial association with management contracts, and the retail spinoff being a low value undertaking. What are your thoughts - justified critique or??
Thanks

Q: Hi,

Please rank these REITs for relative distribution safety and eventual share price recovery.

Is there one in particular that you'd get rid of?

Thanks,

Gord

Q: Have owned these two In my TFSA since October 2019. Since COVID they have not recovered to my cost. DIR has almost got back to break even, But IIP is still lagging. I’m thinking that I should keep DIR but possibly sell IIP. What are your thoughts on these two companies and if I did sell one what would you suggest is a good replacement. Does not have to have a dividend. But have been interested in renewable stocks. Any suggestions. I realize there are several questions here and please takeoff however many credits you deem necessary.

Q: We are retired, primarily income investors. We did hold relatively equal positions in SRU,un and CHP.un, but this has changed rather significantly. In view of the current uncertainty about retail marketing, what is your opinion about investments in these two companies. Would you comment on the sustainability of SRU's dividend? Thank you for all the great ideas and comments.
