Q: Could you comment on the latest results and their acquisition. The market seems disappointed as the stock sold down over 8% today. As a long time unit holder would you add to a position at the current price, the distribution seems very appealing. Thank You Ron

Q: Can you please comment on the acquisition of True North Apartment REIT and some properties from Starlight Investments? Is this a good deal for NPR.UN shareholders?
Q: Hello Peter & Co,
I own CIG (because I held the old FSV) and thinking of taking a position in BPY.UN; are they complementary holdings or would I be doubling my exposure to the Commercial Real Estate sector?
Thanks,
Antoine

Q: Good Morning,
Would you continue to give CSH.UN a B grading, given the recent changes in thia company related to the health care sector? Do you view the divident save; and consider it a growth stock, as well? Thank you

Q: Considering purchasing either TCN or BPY. Would these be considered similar type of companies? Which one would provide better growth over the next 2-3 tears.
Q: I cannot find any information on Home Capital's site about the geographical breakdown of their mortgages. Finally I found a Seeking Alpha article suggesting that about 3% of their loans are oil patch related and that the majority of their loans are in Southern Ontario and in the GTA specifically. Is this correct and where might this information come from so I can get more detail? Thank-you.
Q: How much does Riocan suffer as a result of Target USA not paying the rent of empty stores in Canada, that Riocan cannot find tenants for?
Q: Hi, my position in HCG has fallen to about 2.5% (my full position is 4%). Would advise continuing to wait , or are you comfortable going back to full position yet?
Thank you
Thank you
Q: May I have your comments on today's quarterly report
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
Q: What is your opinion of selling puts underneath the stock - I was thinking of october 27 or 28 puts (the premiums are quite high given the recent volatility) - as I would get either the premium or the stock at a much cheaper price? This assumes, of course, that the company remains solid. If I find out anything that is fundamentally wrong, I would buy back the puts quickly and take the loss, but the loss would be much less than would be the case by owning the stock outright. I am very aware of margin issues and use it in this easy very judiciously.
Q: Do we see this stock as a buy at this stage?
Q: Hello Team
Trying to decided on which is the best and safest reit.I realize they are low risk. But if we go into a recession which would perform better.Thank You

Q: The influential Barron's magazine wrote about this company recently with some specific concerns.
1. This is no longer a growth company. It deserves only a market multiple for a subprime lender which is 1X book value and not 1.5X which means a 35% lower stock price.
2. They have razor thin margin to protect against a possible downturn in the overheated Canadian housing market with salaries not rising.
If these concerns are valid. I have a feeling the bears will pile back in. What is your view? Thank you.

Good morning
What is wrong with Northwest Real Estate investment Trust? I thought it would be a stable business with long lease high quality tenants however I am down 32% now on my 1% position.
Are their buildings now worth a lot less?
Would you now consider the dividend still safe or would I be better to take my lumps, sell and move on to Chartwell which has a lower dividend but I think you consider a much better company for a long hold.
Regards....... Paul K

Q: I am thinking about buying this REIT and would appreciate your comments. Thank You.
Q: Hi 5i,
Could you provide your opinion on FCR's latest quarter earnings report. Is it still a decent hold in a RRSP dividend focused portfolio given the current interest rate environment?
Thanks for your insights!

Q: Peter and Team,
Have you seen this video from today on BNN? http://www.bnn.ca/Video/player.aspx?vid=669530
The discussion regarding Home Capital is sobering and I am curious if you have research that supports or refutes the guest's views?

Q: Thank you for your quick reply and opinion today. The question concerned ZRE but the answer refers to XRE so I am wondering if you would consider XRE ( Market cap 1.24B) a 'better' purchase than ZRE at this time? Perhaps XRE is a typo in the answer?
If the ETf was closed out what would happen re: payment to share holders?
Zre only has a market cap of 364.5M - If XRE was a typo then I expect that you consider the size of ZRE is not a concern?
As a relatively new investor I appreciate the education you provide.
Again, thank you so much

Question: I have been adding to my holdings in the Income Portfolio and with the cost/share down I was considering ZRE at this time. In looking at the BMO site (http://www.etfs.bmo.com/bmo-etfs/distribution?fundId=80001 ) I note the following statement under 'distributions' -
" The distributions will either be paid in cash or reinvested in the BMO ETF at the discretion of the manager."
I am wondering your thoughts on how likely it might be that one would not get a cash distribution? If owning individual REITs could this be the case as well? Do you recommend buying ZRE at this time? We are looking for income.
Thank you ever so much for your insights.
5i Research Answer:
Each REIT would be different, but generally for non-ETFs shareholder approval would be required to get paid in units. ETFs do not require a unitholder vote on many items (including closing a fund). We would not consider it very likely that XRE would pay distributions in more units, and has not to date. Dividends coming in are fairly secure and the fund is large enough to avoid most cash liquidity issues. For diversied REIT exposure and income we would still consider it a decent buy.

Q: I just took a position in BEI.UN, based on a BNN report showing a return of almost 6%, distributed monthly. When it showed up in my BMO account the actual amount of the dividend is $2.04 annually, or 3.55%. I sold an 8% reit to buy this so, is there any 'bonus' that would raise it to 6%, or should I dump it now?
