Q: Timbercreek Mortgage Corporation TMC
Hello 5i.
I am a holding of TMC bought at lower price. Today's news looks like a good initiative and beneficial to holders of TMC - company size, TSX exposure and reduction of fees paid.
Would you please comment on how a holder of TMC should interpret the news? What are your thoughts on TMC from dividend sustainability given it trades at an 8.78% yield today?
Current trading has investors indicating they do not like the transaction.
Thanks
DAve

Q: Melcor Developments (MRD) has a very long and distinguished reputation as a reliable and profitable developer and property manager based in Edmonton, Alberta. In 2013, MRD spun off some of its properties into Melcor REIT (MR.UN). The Reit’s stock price suffered a dramatic decline in 2015 from $10 to $7. Presumably this was due to “Alberta phobia” on Bay Street. However, the 2015 financial statements showed a 50% increase in net income. Debt remains around 55% of book value and the monthly distributions continue unaffected at a very sustainable 80% of net profits, for a current yield of 8.28%. The stock price has recovered somewhat to the $8 range. With oil prices seemingly stabilizing around $40 it would appear that the risk of property related defaults in Alberta is receding. While this is a small cap Reit, its management is top-notch and its financials seem sound.

What is your take on this stock ? Is it a Buy, sell or hold ? Too early to get in ?

Q: Hello again: I meant to include this property in the question I asked earlier this morning, but please feel free to charge me another credit. Northwest healthcare was unloved by most analysts for the last couple of years but they seem to have turned the corner in terms of investor sentiment since the stock price is up $2 on what was a $7.50 stock at its low. Is this kind of increase justified in your opinion and what is your view on its prospects going into the future. I notice that they hold the second highest percentage of their holdings in Brazil (although it is still a distant second to their Cdn. holdings) and could this be a concern given Brazil's current economic malaise? Thanks again, Don
