Q: Mainstreet Health issued a ipo recently It leases it's facilities to Health Care operators in the US I see this as a US real estate play They have 24 facilities and are planning on growing I know it is very early but could you comment on the company's ability to pay a 7+ % dividend I would be buying this for income

Is the dividend paid in US funds ?

Thanks so much

Q: Sorry - I was looking for an CDN or USA ETF not individual stock
: Is there a USA or CDN ETF that your team would recommend similar to CSH.UN, SIA or SIS. Is there any news why SIS is selling off with high volume.

5i Research Answer:
In the US, three to look at are SNH, HCN and LTC
Ventas VTR is also interesting, owning seniors' housing and medical office buildings.
There is no news on SIS, but energy/metals have been very strong and there might be some rotation occurring this week.

Q: I want to increase my holdings in real estate as a contrarian play, and also increase my received dividends.
I am looking at SOT.UN and it has an expected dividend of over 9% and earnings that are more than double that. It made a deal with Fortis recently, and Fortis received shares as part of the deal. I figure Fortis is pretty astute. I would be interested in your opinion.
Is there anything to read into the fact that no questions have been asked about this company on your website. I like to buy things whilst they are still "under the radar"?

Q: Dream Office REIT is underperforming the REIT index especially recently. It has been trying to improve the balance sheet but is again down today after publicity over a possible sale of part of Scotia Tower. It seems to be very unloved.I have been waiting for a better price to sell with some frustration. Is there hope for better sentiment and price? Thanks for your opinion

Q: I have notice there is 2 to 3 times volume last week. Is there any news or is it because of interest rate. Will there be any impact if interest rate goes up. Do you think it is time to sell and move to SIA. I am holding both - Csh.un - 5% and Sia - 1%

Thanks a lot

Q: Hello to all of you at 5i,
It would seem that the US Fed will very likely raise its overnight rate this summer and there is a strong consensus among pundits that REITs experience quick declines when interest rates rise. How do you feel about Chartwell's vulnerability to that scenario? Is it as interest-rate sensitive as the other, more common types of REITs?

Q: I'm holding Allied Properties and RioCan REITs and they make up about 8% of my portfolio. I like the income but I'd also like some growth. Are there better alternatives in this space? What are your thoughts on the relative amount I've allocated to REITs?

Q: Hi Peter & Co.

I was watching BNN Market Call May 26/16. Guest was Daniel Strauss from National Bank. I do not have REITS in my RRIF portfolio but would like to add some. Daniel was discussing an actively managed REIT ETF, RIT.TSX, First Asset Canadian REIT by CI Financial. My research indicate that the MER is .75% and the 12 month trailing distribution yield is 4.88%, the average daily volume appear to be just under 30,000. What do you think of this investment? Are their better alternatives in the actively manage REIT space? Thanks, John

Q: I believe you gave incorrect information re CAR.un You said:

Unfortunately because every REIT is different, and every year sources income can be different as well, we do not have an ability to screen properly for your list. It is rare that
For CAR, in 2015, 88.2% of distributions were classified for tax purposes as 'other taxable income'. 6.9% were capital gains, and the balance was foreign non-business income and return of capital. None of the distribution was eligible for the tax credit.

On the CAR website, they report that over 83% of distributions were categorized as ROC. A very different picture for tax purposes. Can you please confirm which is correct
