I realize that there are economic arguments and opinions on both sides of the carbon tax issue specifically and climate change in general. My question is framed, I hope, in a non-political way.
I had heard Pierre Pollievre comment on using technology to combat climate change. A Google search resulted in:
In the article, Pollievre is quoted as saying: “I’ll have specific measures to do that when the time is right,” he said. “But what we say, very clearly, is that we need technology rather than taxes in order to fight climate change, and that includes carbon capture, nuclear or hydro dams.”
I realize that the next election won’t probably occur until next year, but should Pollievre become PM at that time, some stocks may experience tailwinds, while others may have headwinds.
Could 5i look into their “crystal ball” to list some Canadian stocks that might be positively impacted by a new policy, as well as a possible reverse impact on some other stocks.
Any views as to what is going on with CPX today? I have been a long term holder, and would love to know your view on the company in the current context - sell, hold, or accumulate?
Q: I see that todays news of a huge contract to supply Microsoft has given some life to the share price. But the share price is still quite low compared to a year or two ago. I am having trouble judging how much value the contract adds I would think a contract of this size will quickly give a much stronger boost to the stock, even though some of the contract is a few years away.. How much value does it add, in your opinion? Is the share price too low now? i already have a full position, but I'm thinking of adding more
Q: Todays announcement with Microsoft boosted the BEPC share price about 8% so far, yet the improvement in BN share price is minimal Why? Is BN undervalued since it will clearly benefit from this contact between Microsoft and BEPC Is BN undervalued now? is it a good buying opportunity? I have a one-half position in BN and I'm thinking of boosting it
Q: I am in a quandary on what to do with esb shares that I have. I don't understand how the underlying stocks have doubled but the unit value of esb has FINALLY gotten up to a point where they are paying $.10 a share. I have no idea why the nav has taken so long to get to over $5.00. I fear that the shares will not hold their value, my cost is $.80, thinking about selling and buying some mid cap oils, like tve or bte, what are your thoughts
Thanks
Auftar
Q: With oil and gas being so cyclical, how would one decide when to sell? Any specific indicators associated traditionally with the up or down in that sector?
I have SU and TOU right now. How do you think they will do in the next 6 and 12 months and 3 years, and why?
Q: Could you list any possible positive events that could prove good for Aqn. If possible, the chances they might materialize in 2024.
I like the current dividend and payout ratio is fine but I am feeling stuck.
Q: I am trying to track down a pipeline company someone recently mentioned, along with enbridge and others. It trades at less then $1, and has dropped in price considerably in one year (maybe 42%). I think the ticker starts with T, and has a sister company that deals with diesel fuel. If you know of it, do you have an investment opinion of it?
Sorry for so little info to work with.
