Q: Hi Peter: I'd like your opinion about Yangarra Resources (YGR). From their 2012 2nd quarter reports, their net income has gone from a 1st quarter loss of almost a million$ to a 2nd Quarter gain of over 6 million$ (before tax), but their shares keep slip-slidin' away. Thanks for any input.

Q: Mart Resources has stated that the pipeline deal is done and just waiting for signatures. The umu 10 well is being tested and results could be in the next 4-6 weeks I would guess. Would you think these events will have a substantial impact on the share price or not since it is a year before we will be able to get the increased flow rates? Is the good news already baked in ? Can you explain how the lost oil is really being stolen. Partners, Nigerian government? Thanks very much.

Q: Peter, would you please give me your updated thoughts on Parrallel. The price of 4.12 is rediculous for the yield it is paying. Is the payout ratio really out of line? Looks to me like if they cut the div. by 25% it is still a great buy.Where would the .08 cent div. have to go to to be sustainable? Thanks Ken

Q: What makes a stock have value?
I've only been investing for about 4 years.
Is a stock valuable because that's the price we believe someone would buy the entire company for? How does one get value unless they can sell to someone else, or receive a dividend?
If the ability to sell or purchase is blocked, is the company worth anything? (ie Petronas/Progress)
Does the blocking of Petronas/Progress put a positive pressure on dividend paying companies?

The refusal of Petronas/Progress seems huge to me.

Q: Hi Peter and 5i: AvenEx (AVF) had a miserable Q2 with AECO gas well under $2. Presumably Q3 will be shown to have been better, with the AECO gas price having averaged at least 10% or so above the $2.00 line. One might expect early Q4 guidance to be more positive, with AECO gas averaging over $3.00 so far in October, WTI hanging in above $90, and the Elbow River facility apparently participating profitably in the rise of train-shipped oil. The stock has had a nice move up from the $3 level within the last week but right in the middle of that they announced they are conducting a strategic review of their oil and gas assets. What would you do at this point if you held the stock? Would you view the asset review as a positive development or might you be concerned that it has been occasioned by negative circumstances that have yet to be announced? Thanks for any thoughts!

Q: Hi Peter,

I am concerned with my big position in SCS which has been coming down without any reason. I have asked a question about it before and you said that at two times annual cash flow the debt is not a problem. The company is making money and has half year cashfow of 22 cents. It has excellent locations with no country risk. I firmly believe it is excellent value at this point. However, you showed some concern on one of your other comments. Apart from the fact that it is small, what other risks do you see? Why would it go down even further from this point?

Thanks
