Q: Hi Peter. I am seeking some advice relating to the energy portion of my portfolio. Ideally, I would like about 10% of my portfolio in two energy stocks. Currently, I have Chevron (CVX) in a taxable account (4.0% of the portfolio) and in registered accounts I hold eca, cve, and cpg at 1.4%, 1.6%, and 3.8% of the portfolio, respectively. I have unrealized capital gains on my chevron holdings. I am interested in your views on what two energy stocks I should own for a 3-5 year period. Thanks.

Q: Hope your European trip was enjoyable & profitable!
Would like to reduce my exposure to Western energy. Presently have ALA, ARX, CPG, PKI, PPL,& KEY - all in a cash acct. Have held all for about 4 yrs. & been quite profitable. Just too much concentration. As always your opinion & recommendations are appreciated.

Q: I am not a big fan of the large CAD oil producers (Suncor, CCQ) which I believe are more than able to increase dividends, but are not particularly shareholder friendly and the the major holdings in most energy ETF's. What is your opinion of ZEO, the BMO equal weight energy ETF?

Q: Hello
I am on the fence for investing in ECA.
The recent news on the impending court case for polluting well water has me wondering if they are too risky.
Looking at their previous highs ECA looks like a great opportunity.
Would you have any recent research or opinion available.
Thanks in advance.
Your Q&A is a great resource.

Q: Hello Peter and the 5I team

I was wondering if RMP energy was on your radar screens? What do you think of this company? I was considering making it a 3% holding ( my total oil/gas holdings are 13% of total portfolio).
I really appreciate all of your hard work, and I have been spreading the word about your great web site.

Thank you so much.

Q: I am a new member and must say I really enjoy your site. My question is specifically on short positions on companies. Legacy (LEG) has 34 million shares short out of 157 million float or 21% shares shorted. Is this a high percentage for a company and should this be one of several factors to consider when making an investment decision? Thanks!

Q: I was wondering what your opinion is on Pengrowth Energy and Parallel Energy Trust. I own 1051 shares of PLT.UN and enrolled in the DRIP. It is 7.05 % of my RRSP account. I own 1061 shares of PGF in my RRSP and enrolled in th DRIP. It is 10.72 % of my RRSP. I am underwater on both stocks. I always think about selling them but never do. What do you rate this two stocks, Buy, Sell or hold?? If I sold them would CPG be a good option? Thanks
