Q: Renegade Petro RPL

Since the beginning of this year much has happened for RPL and their relationship with ALX. The biggest change obviously is the share RPL price going from $0.91 at the beginning of the year to $1.91 as of today. Considering I was watching this stock, I feel through my own inexperience was the reason I really "missed the boat" on this one.

For my own educational purposes, what factors were involved which generated the tremendous RPL share price increase for Q1 on onward?

Q: Hello Peter et al....What do you think about oil and gas companies...such as TBE, RPL, AFT.UN, SGL, TDG, WCP that bill themselves as: Sustainable Dividend Income with Moderate Growth Companies? Their yield varies between 4 and 8%. They look like the former income trusts except they seem to be extracting the product from lands where the minerals rights are owned privately rather than by the Crown. I would appreciate your views on such firms. Are they worth further attention? Can they withstand a downturn in commodity prices?

Q: Hello 5i team
I have owned Cenovus since it was split from EnCana. Whilst it pays a dividend it has been a disappointment growth wise. Is there any hope that it will move higher like CNQ. and Suncor or is this dead money? Can you recommend a stock in which to redeploy? I own 1000 shares. I already have a small position in Tourmaline which I could add too.
Thank you David.

Q: Would you generally agree with the gist of the following comment made by Genevieve Roch-Decter,Portfolio Manager LDIC Inc on BNN this week. If so, would most of the Cdn infrastructure/service/pipe cos highly benefit from this trend, specifically ALA, BAD, BDI,GEI, MCB, HNL, KEY, IPl, PPL? Thank-you. "We are in the early innings of an energy investment super cycle that will see nearly $1 trillion in spending by 2025 and over 1 million jobs created. These are numbers published by the American Petroleum Institute on a study they did in December. Last year there was about $90 billion spent in North America on energy infrastructure and we are only a few years into this super growth phase".

Q: Hi Team
Crescent Point Energy has some detractors due, they say, to the dilution of share value and the high payout ratio. It is essentially the same price I paid for it several years ago and it keeps me awake at night although I like the almost 7% payout. Would you recommend a swap into Tourmaline?

Q: Hello

I hold Surge energy in my self-directed RSP account and who is taking over as a merger of Longview oil that I hold in my
non-registered direct trading cash account.
I will be left with after the takeover/merger of Longview oil, only shares of Surge Energy in my RSP registered account.
How will this affect my RSP contribution amount and the tax implications in both accounts.

Thanks
Michael

Q: Hello 5i,
My question has to do with two companies that you have mentionned in question and answer. Suncor and IBM. You don't seem very positive towards either company. I suppose we are all under the mystique of someone like Warren Buffet and I have to say that it puzzles me that Mr. Buffet has chosen these two companies in a portfolio that does not have a lot of names. We would appreciate your take on that. Also, would you sell Suncor and buy something like Surge Energy in the current context?
thanks

Q: Hello Peter et al.

I am enquiring about your current viewpoint on Ithaca Energy (IAE)? Their year end results came out on Mar. 31st and they were within expectations. There was no surprises. I have traded this stock a couple of times now as it has approached the $3.00 mark and has always pulled back. I know that Stella is comming online at the end of 2014 most likely Q1/2015 based on their past experience and this past winter in the North Sea. They do have some debt currently however when Stella comes online the yearly cashflow will be around $2.00 per share. This stock is very cheap based on this metric. What do you see as the next catalyst to cause this stock to run. I am looking for a $4.00 target by the end of 2015. Am I dreaming or is this realistic for this stock if Stella comes in at 30000 boepd or better? Your viewpoint on this stock would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Brendan

Q: Hi all, I was wondering if you feel the 8%+ yield on TBE is really sustainable? At $2+ the stock looks inexpensive...Huge drop of nearly 25% in July...What's your take on this?

Thanks
