Q: I have a few oil & gas producers, actually, mostly oil. These stocks are the biggest weight on my portfolio, some down significantly. I have heard different comments on the outlook for oil...some bullish (eg seasonal factors), some bearish ( large US shale production. What is 5i's best assessment of where things are going for oil stocks?

Q: I am considering reducing energy positions and letting go one or more of these companies. How do you rate them for fundamentals and any other metric you choose to rate them: Keyera, Pason Systems and Freehold Royalties. Sell order??

Q: With gas prices being low like they are is Peyto div safe?. Do they have plenty of cash flow to cover the div, do they still expect more cash flow in the future Thanks Ken

I have a position in PPL and would lean towards switching to TRP since I see more growth in the name at the current valuation.

I owned ENB in the past mostly for its high dividend yield. Would you favor a switch in TRP or ENB and why?

Regarding anthony questions , Not withstanding that BIR is surely in the doghouse, is it worth a second look now and at what price would you consider it worth the risk/reward.

CEO stated in interview yesterday that the lower dividend was sustainable for next number of years....opinion? Is this the ceo responsible for reinstating initial dividend?

I would like to sell BEPC to benefit from tax loss and buy back in 31 days.

Portfolio includes:
2.5% Fortis
2.5% BEPC
1% PIF

Also have :
2.5% BIP.UN
1% BAM
2% BN

I am retired, like dividends and some growth.

1. Looking for a proxy for BEPC for one month
2. Your suggested mix of Utilities.

( Will probably increase BAM some more.)

3. PIF - I like the dividend but volatile for a utility and hasn't gained SP for many years. I have a small loss. Is the dividend secure? Any reasonable gain anticipated over next year or two for PIF?
Might gains be a little more outsized due to interest rate reductions in next year or so?
Do you think it could be a takeover candidate?
Should I hold this or sell?

Q: It looks like, regardless of oil price movements or direction of the market, XEG only goes down. I am currently down 15% on XEG and wondering if there is any hope for oil sector in Canada? Would you keep this ETF/sector for 1-3 years timeframe, or get rid of oil sector entirely and relocate money to some other sectors?

Q: Reading recent comments on Birchcliff Energy 5i didn’t think a dividend cut was imminent and you felt they would issue debt to fund the dividend if need be. Just curious as to the rationale for this opinion. Also, do you feel Bir is good buy at these reduced levels? Q: I think questions about SCORE (SCR) are dragging Strathcona Resources (SCR) into the discussion. While owning an oil company might be a form of gambling I believe this is in error.
I would be interested in your opinion of the Oil Company, SCR - Strathcona Resources.

Q: I am interest in expanding my oil and gas investments to the service side of the oil and gas sector. Would you be able to compare three drilling companies that I am considering. I am interested in PD and NBR for on shore drilling and RIG for offshore. I would prefer a company that is profitable or projected to be soon. The focus is on growth and less on dividends. A fair amount of risk can be handled. Please compare information on these three companies.

Q: TVK appears to have but one analyst - and it is 5i Research. The current share price is $44.51 but your data base shows a Target Price of $6.25 - and that figure has not changed since forever it seems !
I know you are not a fan of Target Prices , but perhaps you might care to speculate upon a likely price in say a year's time ?

in your opinion are there any better canadian listed stocks than; CPX and AQN that one can invest in for the long term? If not, which one of the two would you prefer? This pick would likely be held in a RRSP.

Q: PXT recently announced production that was below analyst expectations, and the stock is down quite a bit today. In add-on, their forecast for 2024 is also light, although a bit of an increase over 2023. I'm surprised, as i bought this one for its strong growth prospects. What do you think of this company going forward? Can they still increase the dividend? buy back stock?
