Q: Natural Gas prices on nYMEX are quoted to be around $US2.90/MMBTU but the Alberta natural gas price is trading at around 40cents Cdn per GJ. Since a GJ is almost the same as MMBTU why such a huge difference in price?

Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BEP.UN $38.98)

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN $8.95)
-
Capital Power Corporation (CPX $61.24)
Q: Capital Power has performed extremely well this year, for a utility stock especially. I am wondering how much more room it might have to run. I also hold AQN at a loss large enough to eliminate my gain on selling CPX, so tax considerations are not an issue. I am pondering the wisdom of selling both AQN and CPX and replacing with another utility such as BEP.UN. I am looking at capturing a yield >5%. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Q: So much news these days about the ramp up to electric vehicles and the eventual elimination of internal combustion engines.
Governments have committed to installing charging stations to accommodate future demand.
What is the current status of power generating facilities. How easily can they ramp up supply to satisfy the future demand or is there already enough capacity.
What are your favourite Canadian and US power generators to satisfy this demand. Thank you

Q: Hi- your answer on yield expected was 1.9% - seems low for a pipeline / utility.
Some news reports have indicated 9% - can you clarify
thanks

Q: Hi Peter I have 100 shares of TRP in my RRSP and 60 in my TFSA I did nothing for the spin off and now I see that it has dropped quite a bit. Is it time to get out of this stock, what can I expect to happen now. Thanks

Q: I have only ENB in energy stocks and am looking to add a basket of stocks with at least a 5% dividend, but also looking for capital appreciation. With the dividend, I don't mind waiting for the appreciation. Do you see any red flags with any of these, and how would you make up a 5% position? Would you sub any other energy stock with a 5%+ dividend?
Q: What is your current analysis in comparison to your August thoughts? Buy, sell or trade and is the dividend in more danger of a cut or cancellation?
Thanx
Gary

Q: As a follow up to Donald’s question on September 30th can you please name your three favourite energy stocks with compelling valuations and favourable risk/reward scenarios?
Q: Good morning - I logged into my BMO IL account today and I still have not received the SOBO shares from the TC spin out arrangement. I believe that all holders of TC should have received the shares on October 1, 2024 which was two days ago. I called BMO IL and the agent I spoke with could not tell me when I would receive the SOBO shares. Would you know why this is the case and if any other brokerages are having the same delay? Clearly the shares are trading on the TSX so some investors must have their shares. Thank you.
Q: Will the dividends for SOBO be eligible for the Canadian dividend tax credit? Thanks!
Q: I am looking for income with some potential for capital appreciation. What are your thoughts on Freehold Royalties?
Thank you
Thank you
Q: If one didn’t own any pipelines or energy infrastructure, is this TC Energy spin-off worth consideration? What might you recommend instead?
Q: About 20 million shares of SOBO were traded today. From your experience what do you read into it, if anything?
Q: can you tell me with the new spin off today what will the dividend be for stock trp and also the spin off. thanks
Q: Can you please comment on the Southbow spinoff and the resulting new share prices and adjustments to ACBs
Q: I own 300 shs of TRp, how many shares will I get in Sobo and If I sell my shs in Sobo will proceeds be taxed as a capital gain as Trp is held in a non registered account?
Q: Can you comment on the investment outlook for SOBO….its yield safety etc.
Q: Today TRP dropped 10%.
I will appreciate your comments as to why this huge drop.
Will the dividend be affected?
Do you recommend holding the stock, selling or buying more at this level.

Brookfield Renewable Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BEPC $53.95)
Q: I am assuming that the recent increase in weight of BEP.UN (Income Portfolio) is also an endorsement to accumulate BEPC since they are supposedly “equivalent”. EPS forecasts for BEPC appear as grim as for BEP.UN, with increasing losses forecast for ’24 and ’25. In a recent Q&A on BEP.UN it was stated EBITDA is more relevant than EPS since it’s a limited partnership. BEPC is not a limited partnership so should it be valued differently? I don’t recall ever seeing a stock begin to trend up in the face of falling 2-year EPS forecasts. 5i has cited the expected decline in rates as a catalyst, but there must be other factors contributing to the rising stock price - perhaps rising revenue, confidence in management, …?
