Q: Thoughts on BIR. I was thinking of buying more, but I believe the current dividend is not sustainable without incurring more debt, so do you think they will reduce it until NG prices pick up? If so, will the price drop, or do you think the possibility is already priced in? Is their balance sheet good? And finally, what are their reserves like? Thanks!

Q: Further to Gordon's question 01 Sep any projections to when CVE and CNQ will each reach their debt limits and start returning the profits to shareholders (divs or buybacks) ? Thank you.
Q: Hi 5i
Canadian Natural-CNQ said when $10B of net debt is achieved the company will return 100% of free cash flow to shareholders. Cenovus-CVE said when $4B of net debt is achieved the company will return 100% of free cash flow to shareholders. In the company Q2 2023 financial results, CVE states their net debt is $6,367B. I am unable to find the the Q2 2023 net debt in CNQ results. Would you please explain CNQ net debt from their results. Thanks

Q: Hi,
What are your top 3 to 5 picks in Canadian heavy oil?
Eric Nuttall picked CVE/ATH/CPG. in his recent appearance on BNN. He predicts it is bit too early for the Gas plays.
You can add separately the companies in the States as well. Eric's focus is only in Canada. I guess that is his mandate.
Thank you.
Mano.
You may want to add the stock symbols as the stem in this this question depending on your answer!

- Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN)
- NextEra Energy Partners LP representing limited partner interests (NEP)
Q: Hi Folks,
I currently hold AQN in my RRSP account at a loss of 30%. I am looking at NEP in the US as a possible replacement. May I have your analysis and opinion of such a move or would you recommend holding onto AQN for now and wait to see if anything comes of the "activist investors".
Thanks

- The AES Corporation (AES)
- NextEra Energy Inc. (NEE)
- Southern Company (The) (SO)
- Williams Companies Inc. (The) (WMB)
Q: Can you please comment on AES and or any other ex Canadian utilities that you would recommend for diversification?
Thanks.

Q: July 14th I asked a question on pipe and bought a chunk of them for growth and the initiated dividend.
They have been bought by Strathcona Resources shortly after that!
I am a bit unsure of what will transpire now and would like your opinion of the upcoming meeting in September and what should I do? Sell now or hold?
Thanx Gary

Q: hi,
I am contemplating selling AQN. do you have any guess as to what sort of upside potential ( in percentage ) in the short term there may be for any actions (asset sales? restructuring? etc etc )spurred on by the "activist investor". so far, there has been nothing of significance in this regard, and the stock price reflects this, I think? if selling, I was thinking of adding to my BEPC to make close to a full position. do you still think BEPC has decent growth potential, and will weather any further rate hikes? is the balance sheet fine still?
cheers, Chris

Q: Lots of insider buying Does your screens show that as well?
Thx

Q: I have owned this fund for a number of years for the dividend - now over 13% paid monthly. But I am down over 40% on it. Not good math! It is in a registered account so no benefit of tax loss selling. Do you have a sense of whether it will recover as interest rates stabilize? Is there a risk of a dividend cut? I am not familiar with the companies in it. Now regret buying something I don't understand but it was a recommend on BNN.
- Cenovus Energy Inc. (CVE)
- MEG Energy Corp. (MEG)
- Freehold Royalties Ltd. (FRU)
- Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. (TVE)
Q: Good morning,
I currently own all four companies in the energy portion of my family portfolio.
That being said, I'm in the red and very disappointed with FRU.CA's performance of late and looking at selling FRU.CA and with the proceeds, adding to my existing positions of MEG.CA, CVE.CA or TVE.CA.
Q1. What are your thoughts on FRU.CA
Q2. Which of these three stocks (MEG.CA, CVE.CA or TVE.CA offers the best risk/reward at this particular time,
Q3. Is there another energy stock that you prefer and would wholeheartedly recommend.
Thank you and I'll await your response.

Q: Over the last year MEG is up 27% and TVE is down 20%. I am down 26% on TVE. Is a switch from TVE to MEG a good trade to recover my current loss on TVE? Thank you
Q: Do you think conditions for Nat Gas to go higher from here over next 1-2 years is likely?
I currently hold position in PEY as my only nat gas exposure (2% weighting). Looking to increase that exposure for income and growth, so wondering which of BIR or TOU you would choose to hold over 2-3 year timeframe? Or, would positions in both, or perhaps another nat gas stock, make sense alongside PEY? Thx

Q: With the view that volume of LNG will increase for pipelines , i assume for exports and general demand, what companies should I focus on?
Q: First Energy stock has been dropping although it is still profitable and seems to hold a SOLID businesses.
With the 4.3% dividend would you suggest it is at a good entry point or are there cautions I should be aware of?
Thanks, Ted.

Q: Hello 5i Team,
I am looking at adding another dividend name to my RRSP portfolio. I already own ENB, TRP, and PPL in the energy infrastructure space, and am thinking of starting a position in Williams Companies. It has a lower yield than the other three at present, but how does it compare in terms of valuation (P/E, debt ratios, etc.) Is it a "safer" investment than the other three? Given that it's nearly impossible to build a new pipeline in Canada anymore, does it have a better future?
Much appreciated,
Brian

Q: I started to monitor Enbridge recently. I noticed that the payout ratio is around 185% according to Morningstar. Did ENB maintain such ratio for a long period of time ? If so, how can a cie manage such a ratio for a long period of time ? If not, what has caused the payout ratio to reach that level ?
