Q: Ouch !! Energy stocks down 6% in just Today's session. Looks like, many support levels are breaking down. What's your take ? Get out, Buy More or, Do Nothing. Are there any catalysts on the horizon, to provide support ? Shaky grounds for investors in the sector !! There was a comment on CNBC, that, if the sector does not bounce back in this quarter, there could be a repositioning and selling by Institutions and Portfolio Managers/ Hedge Funds, in January, 2024, accelerating the downslide. Thank You
Q: Which do you prefer between these two for a 10 year hold and rational?
I hold BEP and wondering if I should switch to FTS.
Thanks

Q: Today Brian asked about the dividend rate for this pref. share.
You have indicated that the rate is .307
I believe the correct rate is 6.525%.
Can you please explain.
Thanks

Q: Regarding Brian’s question:
I can’t find a press release, but I think this issue was in fact scheduled to reset on Dec 1 , 2023
Pembina website shows a dividend rate of 6.525%, presumably based on par at $25. This would run until Dec 1, 2028.
Adds up to about $1.63 per annum or $.4078 quarterly.
Stock closed at $20 so if bought at that price would effectively yield about 8.16%.
I apologize if my math or info is incorrect, but this is worth rechecking I think.

Q: I have not been in oil for years but am reviewing the matter for diversification. But here we are with 2 wars going on , OPEC+ cutting prices , Russia selling oil at discount , the world awash with oil and excess production, governments pushing green. Economists ( gotta love those guys ) were talking peak oil and $200.00 pbl. not that many years ago. So why should I want to buy a commodity with such lousy metrics ?
If I do take the plunge I’m looking at these 3 large caps. IMO has long been a well run company and I like to align myself with the American masters who keep on doing buybacks. CNQ is also shareholder friendly and well run. SU has a 100 years of reserves, an attractive retail operation but continual operational issues.
What is your view on oil long term and your favourite of these three ? Thanks. Derek

Q: Do you think PPL would be a decent buy and hold considering it might buy into the trans mountain pipeline.

- Cenovus Energy Inc. (CVE)
- Ovintiv Inc. (OVV)
- Brookfield Corporation Class A Limited Voting Shares (BN)
- Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. Class A Limited Voting Shares (BAM)
Q: What is your opinion on the prospects of Cenovus(CVE) and Ovintiv(OVV) over the next 5 and 10 years ? What are your thoughts on selling them (old stocks that could be sold for a tax loss) and replacing them, as a long-term hold, with some Brookfield stock (BN, BEP and/or BIP)? If you favor that, which Brookfield company would you recommend be given the greatest weight ? Or is it better to hold onto those oil and gas stocks for a while?
Q: Hello Peter,
What is driving Aecon stock? It is ticking upwards slowly. I am thinking of keeping it for dividend and some upside.. Any thoughts please? Also, Ivanhoe Electric.. Is it a good time to take a small position? Any idea why the stock shows different statuses on tsx versus nyse.. Sometimes it does not trade much on tsx and other times the values are different eventhough i take into account exchange rates. Thanks very much
