Q: Peter, flat out: would you be tendering these shares to suncor? Yes the value is a low ball offer but suncor is the much better operator, and i believe will do far better with the asset. When tendering if im under water is a capital loss realized even when we are trading shares for shares? Thank you.

Q: Hi Guys,

Is there any hope this stock will rise from the ashes? Could you comment on their last quarter report.

This is a "speculative" investment for me and is a very small portion of my portfolio (less than .5%). Should I move on to something else with these funds?

Thanks for your thoughts,
John

Q: Peter and Team:

What would be your preferred names in BC/Alta gas fields that would expect to benefit the most if an LNG Export Facility ever becomes a reality.

Thanks

Q: Good Afternoon what do you think of today's news for BNK? Looks like the Albanian government has seized their local bank account in order to try and collect a tax amount of $75 million, the shares are getting crushed down 21%, is this an opportunity or another example of why to stay away from risky jurisdictions such as Albania?
Thanks

Q: Thank you for the Tax Loss Bounce Blog. I own CXR and expect a bounce in 2016. I also like CRH. The other one that caught my eye in the blog is CKE. Can you please provide an overview/update on this company. What is leading to its continued decrease while others in the industry hover? How is the balance sheet? Is debt level a concern? Are the assets good? Do you have confidence in management? What is insider ownership? With prolonged low oil prices is this small company a good candidate for a takeout? Many thanks for your excellent service.

Hello 5i
I am concerned about PrairieSky Royalties.
Will the income from the drillers and producers leasing their properties slow down if production decreases or do they have long term fixed contracts and take-or-pay deals?
Is their income tied to the actual price of oil/gas or are royalties fixed to production volumes?
Do you forsee any problems sustaining the dividends looking ahead a few years?
PSK is my only actual oil/gas holding and is 1% of my portfolio.
Would I be better off selling PSK and adding 1% to either my EMA[currently a 4% position] or to PPL[currently a 2% position]?
I can sell at no loss if I choose, so what would you advise.
Thank you.......... Paul K

Q: I own Encana with a loss of nearly 40 %. I'm considering taking a tax loss and replacing EnCana with Seven Generations Energy Ltd. Do you consider that to be a good move? Any better suggestions?

Q: I own this deb. coming due June 30, 2017 and paying 6.5%. The broker has informed me that it is being delisted from the TSX in early Dec. Do you think I will still be paid the 6.5% and the principal in 2017? I have not received any correspondence from Parallel.

Q: My biggest (>40%) on paper “losers” in a non-registered account are: SGY, TOU, PHM, SCL, and AVO. They are each between 1% and 2% of the portfolio.

My biggest (>100%) on paper “winners” are : CSU and ATD.B.

I don’t have any capital gains to offset this year since I have not sold anything. Does it make any sense to trigger a tax loss for the sake of it since it could be used in the future (and nothing to carry the loss back to either)? If I sold any of the above “losers” I probably would not be in any hurry to buy them back, if at all. I can hang onto them as I still kind of believe they are still good, but you refer to the opportunity cost of holding onto them. Not sure if I should create a loss for the sake of it, and maybe take some profits on the winners since they are up quite a bit.
