Q: I realize that NBZ Q1 reporting will be out on 5/11 followed by a conf call and I'm not expecting great results but why is the stock performing so poorly with no news and when oil closed at 45.33 today?

Q: Good afternoon,
What would you think of a small and speculative purchase of Penn West? The amount involved would be insignificant to the total portfolio but I would not proceed if you view the chance of success as minimal. Thank you.

Q: i originally bought CVE and CPG for dividends and they represent 2% of my portfolio (1% each). I have a few SU shares as part of the COS deal. Now that CVE and CPG have substantially reduced or eliminated their dividends I was considering selling CVE and CPG and buying more SU. My intention is to streamline (reduce) my number of holdings, upgrade the overall quality while keeping my overall energy exposure whole. I also own CVX and CNQ.
- Tourmaline Oil Corp. (TOU)
- Birchcliff Energy Ltd. (BIR)
- Paramount Resources Ltd. Class A Common Shares (POU)
Q: Hello Peter,
Any idea why Tourmaline oil's stock price hardly moves or moves lower whereas Birchcliff Energy and Paramount resources continues to climb higher given that paramounts' balance sheet is not as good as Tourmaline's. Thanks

Q: Can you give me an idea which one of these 3 stocks you would prefer for an entry in the renewable energy area. RNW has a higher dividend but BLX seems to have a more consistent return. Your view would be appreciated. Tnx
Q: Husky announced after the close today and I found it odd that 1\2 million shares trading the last 8 minutes of trading. IS this normal tradeing practice? Thanks Cliff
Q: Could you please give your take on GXO. Their balance sheet appears to be very solid. They show strong earnings, little debt, a good yield and a growing dividend which is most unusual for an oil company in these trying times. Am I missing something?
Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on Mullen Group. I am not sure i fully understand their Q1-2016 comments about strength of trucking business. Yes, OIBDA for trucking is better year over year, but their revenue actually declined for this segment as well. would like to know your thoughts on company's debt, current share price, their survival chances if oil remains at or below current price for next year or so.
At what price would you recommend buying the stock?

Q: I'm keen to watch top managed companies in totally out of favor sectors, to buy when business conditions improve. I'm not looking for a relief rally on overlevered stocks for a short-term profit, but rather for stocks I can hold for a signifiant time as business conditions improve. BDI is one of the companies I'm interested in.
What would be the signs that BDI is a good "risk-return" story? What do I look for?

Q: Today there is high volume on Athabasca oil. Any news? Can you give an update on the company and joint venture with Murphy Oil? Would you average down?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Your thoughts on Black Diamond Group would be appreciated.

Q: How do you feel about buying this stock at today's price seeing that the new company is offering $2.20 at the closing of the deal. Is there still money to be made here if the deal goes through.
Q: Can you comment on the Banker's Petroleum takeover.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Q: I'm down about 20% on wcp, would it be a good idea to take the tax loss and replace with rrx? If not, could you recommend something more suitable?
Thanks

Q: Toro does not seem to have participated in the recent rally in oil stocks. Any idea why this might be the case?
Q: Thinking of dipping my toe back in the energy sector. Many co's stocks have made significant moves already, even following last weekends failed agreement. Vermillion seems to be well regarded, is 50% off it's high and yet hasn't jumped, so would this be a good choice? Are there others similarly lagging the early leaders that are worth considering.
Thanks Peter.
Thanks Peter.
Q: I have a good proportion of my portfolio in the US, so its value is very dependent on the US$/CAN$ exchange rate. Now I would like to increase my investment in energy with a view to a hedge against the rising CAN$. Can you recommend two reliable dividend paying stocks whose value is highly correlated to the CAN$, and which preferably have some growth potential too. I already own SU and CNQ.
Thanks for your help.
Chris
