Q: At one point today, BIR and most of the energy market was up. Then the whole sector turned down, while energy itself was up.
What happened?

Q: I own PONY shares. I note the company has hedged a portion of its production for 2017/2018. What do you think of this company’s financial position? Has your opinion changed with the loss of a significant LNG development project in Canada? Would you hold or sell at this point? Thank you kindly for your insights.
Q: What is your long term outlook on oil I read that France and Britain have banned fossil fuels in another 25 years Consumption in the US has not shown any growth because of the fuel efficiency of the newer engines.
Volvo is going to stop producing gasoline engines in another three years
Canada does not seem to want to compete because of our carbon tax position
I almost want to throw in the towel on all my oil positions because I see consumption decreasing and oil supply increasing
Could you let me know your long term thoughts on oil as an investment and your recommendations
Thank you
Paul

Q: I hold approx 5% of my portfolio in O&G, and this is split 60/40 between Imperial Oil/Whitecap. Historically, I have found IMO relatively safe. However, with IMO now at a disappointing 5 year low, would you recommend selling it and replacing it with either more WCP or with another O&G such as SU or CNQ? Thank-you.
Q: Could you please give your opinion on PNE?
Thanks, Alan
Thanks, Alan
Q: Hi 5i, Rrx did not leverage to oil price, Tog and Spe are up but Rrx went to opposite direction, why? Thanks always.
Q: Can you please comment on the recent earnings? Do you think the stock is a buy at this price?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: Please help me understand this.Recently when oil price declines,Enb & other pipelines generally decline,& when oil price increased these 3 days,ENB et al is more or less moving sideways or down.Yesterday the LNG project in B.C. led by Petrons of Malaysia was cancelled at this point. This coincide with the ascension of a new government(NDP & GREEN) who openly oppose the project.Poor B.C.Does this has a negative impact. Thanks for your usual great services & views

Q: Encana has been steadily climbing this month. Is it worth taking a small position?
WCP has held it's own YTD, but not TOG. I am still under by a small %. Should I sell TOG and add to WCP?
Thanks!

Q: In follow up.
In regard to my last question the weightings were mentioned but not very clearly.... just to clarify ALA: is 4.47% wt SGY:is 1.55% wt Tog is 1.97% wt. The weightings of all the other stocks very from the highest,TD @9.7 the lowest of 3.29 for CHS.UN. The rest are fairly close in between.
Not sure if this clarification changes your answer.

Q: My wife's rift has 23 holdings, fairly well diversified. Her biggest losers are: ALA @4.47% dn; 27%;SGY @1.55,dn 45%; TOG@1.97,dn 42%.
I've held these for a number of years now with no turn a round in site.[I manage her acc.] Do I finally dump these now, or continue to hold for the dividends.
The RIFT is primarily made up income stocks and other wise, doing fairly well.
Your thoughts and/or replacements please.

Q: I'm (still) planning an income portfolio and have decided on the above companies. I think they are solid and the income is attractive. I expect to hold them 5 years.
My concern about all of them is the electric car overhang. I see the trend to E-cars as a long term annual dissipation of the energy sector. Think of a successful 20 year short on the energy sector. There will not likely be a major event, just a gradual decline in earning etc. You have mentioned in another reply that PKI and ATB can use their locations for other purposes, but there's not a lot of uses for an oil refinery or pipelines.
Please provide your views on my conundrum. Thanks.

Q: QST - anything to explain weakness of late, particularly today? What's your take on the company going forward? O know they have good product.
Q: Whitecap is back down around its 52 week low after dropping 7% the past two days. Is this just another over-reaction with crude dropping? Or has there been any other news regarding WCP the past couple days?
