Q: Hello 5i team !
Energy service company's might be ready for a rebound soon ? Is there any reason to choose between the 3 ideas (SCL, EFX, or TCW) to play this segment, ie. balance sheet, PE, growth, etc. ? Any significant U.S shift to their operations possibly ?

Q: Good Morning;

What do you feel is the best company for natural gas? Specifically, I am looking for a company with low debt, a dividend and a strong track history (good management).

I currently own a very small natural gas play (CQE) that is down 66%. I am seeking to move my remaining money into a company that will pay me to wait and provide an opportunity down the road to recoup my loss.

Q: Hi 5i, Peyto has long been identified as one of the highest quality and lowest cost Canadian nat gas producers. It was even suggested that before PEY would run into serious trouble some of its competitors would be going broke and selling assets out of bankruptcies. With the shifting of shareholders following the dividend cut and cap ex reduction, any thoughts on where the stock may settle and find some stability? Do you think it is okay to continue to hold it (and continue the DRIP) and wait for a cyclical lift or would it be better just to exit the scene? Also, can you name any Canadian nat gas producers that sell much of what they produce at NYMEX prices(are there any?) ? Thanks.

Q: Hello 5i team,
Under the energy sector I currently hold MCB and RRX. I am thinking of selling MCB and adding another energy company from the balanced portfolio. I was wondering which of the 3 listed would be the best in terms of growth? All three have a decent dividend but I was leaning more towards Enbridge since it is the largest and most stable of the three.

Q: Dear Peter and Team,
On Jan15 you answered that debt for the pony is more than 6x cash flow.
from their website for Q3 cash flow for 9 mos was 79.5 mil-and is likely
100mil/year. Debt-bank debt93.8m-plus senior notesof 141.4m plus convertible debt of 44.6m adds to 279.8mil. Total net debt with working capital deficit is $336mil. This is all at trough natural gas prices. Production now is over 60kboe/d versus 42,353boe/d during Q3/17.
They do not plan on adding more debt in 2018. What am I missing?
Thanks for your help.

Q: I have held Crew for years in the 6.00 range so I am down substantially. In the past six months or so it has risen to over $5:00 only to do a complete reversal
Back to the $2.70 range. I thought it was going to break out or be bought out . Is it time to move on?
Would you move on if you were still managing money with this company in your portfolio. Always hear about good management who have done it all before
And they sold some Montney assets and it trades a lot but never gets out of the barn.

Q: I own Birchcliff and at a loss currently. Debating to average down and make it a 5% holding in a diversified portfolio. I do own tourmaline which is 1% and it is down as well. So far my bet on NG is not working but if i hold on to the survivors things should turn around. Is Birchcliff worth the risk at a 5% holding assuming it can last on current prices of NG.

Q: Peyto has been going down week after week at the same time that NYMEX gas prices have been increasing. Your going to tell me that Peyto doesn't get NYMEX prices it gets AECO price. OK but WHY is the AECO price so low; NYMEX today is over $3.20 and AECO price is ??? I used to look on the Alberta Gas Inc. website for the AECO price but it has not reported a new price since January 8th when it was around $1.50. So WHY is the Alberta price so low?? Thank you for your help. I thought we only had issues with OIL pipelines. Are gas pipelines also a problem?

Q: I read/hear conflicting opinions about the price of oil from well respected analysts in the print/electronic/TV media. Some say oil sector is the next place where the money is going to flow and others say there will be a pull back sooner than later. Do you think the new highs are there to stay? What are the top 3 to 5 companies from your favourite list that have already shown improvement due to higher oil price?
Many thanks.
